Trouble Installing: Error... (Status 7)

8 posts in this topic

Hi all, I'm new to both this community and Android in general. I really look forward to trying Cyanogen due to its ASOP commitment.

Anyway, I'm having problems installing the builds for it....

1. My note is rooted

2. Clockwork is flashed

3. I've tried installing Cyanogen from how my phone was as well as going back 100% ATT stock, erasing the cache and data, and starting over from scratch. The result is the same....

CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4

-- Installing: /emmc/cm-9.0.0-RC2-quincyatt.zip

Finding update package...

Opening update package...

Installing update..

assert failed: getpropr("ro.product.device") == "SGH-I717" || getprop("ro.build.p

roduct") == "SGH-I717" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "quincyatt" ||

get.prop("ro.build.product") == "quincyatt"

E:Error in /emmc/cm-9.0.0-RC2-quincyatt.zip

(Status 7)

Installation aborted.

To be extra clear I'm just downloading the zip from get.cm and copying it over to my device's root (don't have an SD card yet).

Any help?

And thanks for reading :)

I would try installing Goo Manager, (which is great for keeping up with Nightlies) and have it install Team Win's recovery. It is touched base and very intuitive. CM9 is the first time I've flashed a ROM and I can do it now with no issues.

I did run into problems though installing via Rom Manager.

I often have problems trying to flash ROMs from ROM Manager. Instead try rebooting into recovery and manually select your ROM for flashing. Remember to backup, and wipe cache and data before flashing.

Had the same problem.

I installed the latest clockword recovery from the play store. Cyanogenmod then installed no problems.

One big caveat: my updated clockwork did not see my external sd. I had to boot back into an old backup (lucky I had one on the internal sd) and copy the cyanogenmod files to the internal sd, then boot back into recovery, THEN flash cyanogenmod.

This problem was SOLVED by purchasing the touch based clockwork recovery from within the clockwork app. This recovery recognized the external sd, no problems.

Long story short, install the latest cyanogenmod app from play store, purchase the touch based recovery from within the app and flash that from the start. You won't run into the problems I had above.

Cyanogenmod 9 (the latest nightly) on the other hand, would not recognize my external sd. I think this is a bug.

Goo Manager worked for me after having the same issues with Clockwork. After installing CyanogenMod it got stuck on the boot animation screen. After this I did a clean system wipe and it's worked perfectly ever since.

I am having this same problem. Status 7 errors. I don't know what is wrong. I backup, wipe the device, wipe the cache, and wipe the dalvick. Also my most recen't backup stopped working so im now stuck in gingerbread.

What is going on here.

Your issue is your recovery is to old.... trying upgrading(flashing) a newer version of Clockworkmod or try TWRP......
