Can't get Google Play Store on phone

6 posts in this topic

I've had my Samsung Galaxy S on Cyanogen Mod 7 for a while now, and I recently tinkered with it further but had to factory reset after a apparent Beats Audio Hack made for my Samsung from the HTC Sensation meant my Music Player didn't work and it kinda snowballed from there, so factory reset and it's all working again bar one thing...

Now, I'm on the basic Mod7 now and I can't find/download/therefore use the Google Play Store at all, so at the moment, I'm running a smartphone that's actually just a phone that plays music.

It's not a life or death situation of course, but it's simply an inconvenience that I'd be interested to see if I can obviously correct and make sure I can have a fully working phone.

Any help or advice would be massively appreciated.

Cheerss!!

Also, any further mods that people would recommend to put onto my phone, bearing in mind the 'Value Pack' has just been released for the Galaxy S?

Maybe you can download gapp .zip and install it with cwm. You can find it in CyanogenMod wiki under installation.

I have the same problem, according to the wiki I am supposed to be able to boot into recovery mode and install them like a rom. But the files are not a zip and are not recognized. Have looked in a lot of places so far and have found no other resource information on getting the google play store installed.

Also on a separate issue I am having problems getting my carrier's data network to work after installing cm7, phone calls and messages work fine. Went in and manually entered APN information I copied from my wifes phone. I saw the data transfer image appear for a brief moment but I had wifi enabled at the time. But after turning that off I cannot get any data, even tried restarting the phone.

1. download gapps for your cm version from http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps

2. install through CWM recovery

I was able to get gapps downloaded and running but I hit another problem. I was unable to login to my account on the play store. Continued to get an invalid login error, but I can login to google just fine on my computer. Created a new account and was able to login with that one, but would like to be able to reinstall all the apps i have payed for.
