[REQUEST/SUGGESTION] ARNOVA 7c G2

10 posts in this topic

Hey there people!S

Sorry this is my first post, i've searched for an introduction thread but didn't found it (if there is one, please tell me where).

So, here's the big deal, i've recently bouht a tablet which one there's no custom ROM for it

After some research, it seems to me that Commitiva z71 and ZTE 9 are quite similar to this device, so it probably wont be much difficult to bulid a CM for it.

BTW, i don't know if there are many users for this tablet to really make worth the dev efforts.

It would be great to have a CM on it.

Anyway, thanks in advance :)

(Running Gingerbread 2.3.3 stock ROM)

The Arnova 7c G2 seems to be a Qualcomm MSM7227. Internal Flash seems to be 512Mb, RAM is 256MB.

It has indeed similarities, but little is known about display implementations and other things.

I requested source code that is subject to the GPL to be published or to be sent to me from archos/archtech. Probably we know more by then.

The manufacturer already told me, that an upgrade to ics or a newer gingerbread or honeycomb build is rather unlikely, since they do not plan to damage their business consisting of premium devices.

The current shipping firmware is not published yet on their homepage and lacks support for wireless tethering as well as for some applications.

I would be happy too, if a port will be started. I guess ICS may be possible on snapdragon, but developers should wait until qualcomm releases their SDK.

Are there any comments or opinions by a senior cyanogenmod developer on that conclusions? Hints? Caveats?

Please I am interested too! if someone will make a rom i will donate money.

I need a rom because this is really bad, there is not market and google apps, there is not root and we can't do nothing.

If the developer need i can test the rom and recovery.

Me 2 please. Its a great bit of kit IMHO with hopeless support

It can be rooted with latest Superoneclick

There various hacks to get the market sort of working but I have not been successful. YET!!!!!!!!!

No more news? Bad news?

Is that means that the arnova 7c g2 will stay in 2.3.3 ?

I tried to look how to build a firmware from the ICS sources, but it is not so easy, for somebody as me, who do online what is printed is the tutorials!

(Sorry for my english... if there's some mistakes... )

Hi there!

Arnovatech provides some devices source code.

The one for this tablet is also available at http://arnovatech.com/support/updates_gnu.html (under GPL) So may someone can build or provide the right extract_files.sh script to build a cyanogen rom for it.
