Samsung Galaxy Precedent (SCH-M828C)

16 posts in this topic

I'm hoping to see a port of CM for the Samsung Galaxy Precedent (SCH-M828C).

Being that the Prevail (SPH-M820) is nearly identical and already has CM7, a port should doable.

Samsung source site

https://opensource.samsung.com/index.jsp

The Precedent has already been rooted, and there are a few ROMs already available, but I am holding out for CM be it official or not. :)

As i am a firm user of the AreaRom i would love to see CM7 ported to the precedent! unless its froyo then you can keep it i like my GingerBread!!! XD

otherwise if CM7 is GB then bring it on it would be nice to have something else to flash to once in a while.

No kidding, that is why it needs to be ported...

BTW AreaRom 2.0 is a port from a Prevail ROM; the browser has Boost branding and SMS is broken. <_< The Prevail ROM author has not been credited, better call it Ninja ROM.

Also looking for the precedent port. I rooted and installed the prevail version. Bricked it. Returned it. Back to square one. Ran CM 5-7 on my nexus one for years. Loved it. But the AT&T prices were killing me to I now have the Precedent and I hate the OS after using CM for so long. Please let us know when a port is available.

Thanks

Mike

Thanks PandaBomb, looking forward to see what you can do with it. Good luck and keep your head up.

It looks like someone else has decided to work on a port as well. It might be their first ROM that does not look like theme was the result of an explosion at a rave or a light stick factory.

Don't trust the tinyURL, here is the preview link.

Here is how I rooted my m828c Samsung Precedent. I went to Android.net community (Help Rooting Samsung Galaxy Precedent). Post #5 Downlod KMS and follow instructions. Now you have root but a weak one. Act fast. Make sure you have superuser installed and clockworkmod manager. Then I grabbed odin after rooting with KMS. Flashed Sph820-fe16-root-cwms with ODIN-Boot. Together, follow instructions exact. Now I have a permanent root, recovery, superuser. From there I was able flash ctff19 roms, cwm roms, Evey rom out there and back and forth with no issues. All roms ran fluently with a little tweaking, Thanks Dev. My last rom running now is 9-20120226-CM9-KANG-ALPHA-3.5.5 ANDROID VERSION 4.0.3 perfectly to all the hard work of all the devs. There is one glitch. After the first rom flash, it said it would switch carriers maybe over to straightalk from my net10. It actually switch me to Boost and now my phone made a easy transaction from Precedent to Samsung Galaxy Prevail, Android 4.0.4, processor speed 900 perfectly. Roms all known roms by area51,CT, Cwm, perfect. wifi, bluetooth. apps..Have them all on SD and swaps perfect.
