Thanks. I take it the warnings I saw on Kies about not applying the Jelly Bean update if rooted were just Samsung covering itself?

Any recommendations on the rooting instructions?

Actually, it there are rooting instructions for this phone on the CM site, I missed them. Does anyone have a link?

I did get the phone and updated it to Jelly Bean with the T-Mobile instructions. I am still stock. If I were to root but stay stock for now, would that create any problems for me? Would I be able to take future updates?

Thanks.

theres a app called goomanager in the play store download that, open it, press your menu button, click on install openrecoveryscript and there you have it :) hope i helped!

Is there a chicken and egg situation?  In order to run goomanager, you need root, right?  In order to get root, don't I need a custom recovery?  Is the best thing to do to install the CWM recovery long enough to get root and then install TWRP?

By the way, is there a CM-blessed set of instructions for getting root?  It doesn't seem to be in http://wiki.cyanogen...pdate_Guide.  I have Googled a bit and come up with a few pages that seem straightforward enough but who really knows from some random Web site?  I tend to trust the CM community.  If this is all easily findable somewhere, no need to reply.  To be honest, I just ordered the T-Mobile Galaxy S III last night -- although I have used CM on two previous phones -- so I am just starting to read up on the specifics for the new phone.

On a related point, am I correct that, notwithstanding the name, this has become the accepted forum for all versions of the Galaxy S III, not just the international one?

Thanks.

Just in case anyone else has the same problem, what was the solution? Thanks.
