NOTE: the new kernel in this port only works on 32B devices.

NOTICE: The cm6.1 stable version of this port is here

Here is a clean port for CM6.1-RC1 to the new radio (include CM kernel not my own, but if you wish to try mine get after install my 2708 anykernel will work)

Installation is simple:

1) Download update-cm-6.1.0-RC1-DS-2708port_S.zip
2) Download GAPPS tiny
3) Push both files onto the root of your SD card
4) If you do not already have radio 2.22.27.08 or 2.22.28.25 and HBOOT 1.33.0013 or 1.33.0013d installed see This post on XDA (return here when it asks you to install a rom)
5) Wipe if needed
6) Flash update-cm-6.1.0-RC1-DS-2708port_S.zip
7) Flash GAPPS
8) reboot and enjoy the rom.

Kernel:

This is the CM kernel form 6.1-RC1 recompiled with my 2708 patches:

The full patchset is here
and was applied to this commit to match the kernel the release was originally shipped with

Update.zip:

This is a kanged update.zip.. I just replaced the kernels and modules with the ported ones I just built, and updated the bootloader validation, otherwise this zip is identical to the original CM6.1-RC1 release

edit: I fail I wanted this in the Dream/Sapphire section how did I goof and end up here [Evo]
Mods please move (apologies)

Thanks for all your efforts , but I want to ask if really this "upgrade" give us something important in terms of speed ,funcionality etc.  Of cours it looks nicer to see total ram 112 Mb than 98 mb but what else ?

hey s0me0ne, got the same error and got it working by entering the whole path of the radio and spl images (eg. "fastboot flash radio D:\radio-2.22.27.08.img")

This is intended for use on 1.33.0013d, no need to spoof your spl (or if you are spoof 1.33.0013)

I'll make an anykernel of the nightly kernel when I get a chance if no one beats me to it.

Yes it works read my xda thread (this thread is just for a version with the original cm kernel, those who want my kernel are welcome to still use my anykernel installer)

Thanks a lot for your work ezterry!  :D :D :D

Can someone explain what are the differences feature-wise between this and the previous 2708-patched kernel?
Or where can I read about it?
I understand there are different overclocking limits but what else?

Thanks again!

Excellent job! No issues at all with this port, and the new radio definitely increase my upload/download speed when I did some benchmarks.

Obviously it would be nice to have a more permanent solution with an unlocked bootloader.

Just use flash_image from recovery to install an unmodified version of the recovery.

What do you mean about more permanent.. one hopes someone can maintain ported kernels regardless of cyanogen finding the time for a dedicated build.

Me you and every mt3g 1.2 user wants an engineering version of the spl.. but at least 1.33.0013d has the ability for 'fastboot erase system -w' letting you cleanly wipe between roms or if you use custom mtd, changing the mtd sizes.

(Mt3g 1.2 users with the audio jack don't need this port and it probably wont boot but they do need the spl to allow all functions of their phones to work and have for a long time)

Did you still want a sapphire user to test the SPL nbh flashing? Official signed nbh still works the standard way and flashing an engineering spl can still be done in recovery

This is the cm6-rc1 kernel and based off linux 2.6.35.7
Mine is my 20101031 kernel and based off linux 2.6.34.7

Both are based from pershoot kernels

Both have many of the same recent android related patches

Some diffrence in config of OC, governors and, parameters may change performance conditions but the same underlying logic is mostly at use.

Some new bugs are not in the older linux kernel .. some old bugs may have been fixed in the newer one.

Can you make a flashable Kernel (Just the Kernel) through recovery, based on 2.6.35.7 (CM6)?  I already have have your
20101031 kernel and based off linux 2.6.34.7.

Thanks in advance and I appreciate all you've done

NOTE: This is for my wife's phone (32B Sapphire)

Probably not if you are using the same gapps package (in theory the rom will back up the gapps.. in practice I recommend reflashing them)
