There is any way to restore the microphone icon on default keyboard? Obviously the "voice search" app is installed and working on Google search widget, I only miss the microphone icon on keyboard, and all the stuff to enable that button on the keyboard settings

Have you installed any special keyboards (swype, HTC_IME, etc) or applied any themes that might have messed with the current one? I believe that voice input icon was part of the stock 2.1 virtual keyboard.

Check Psychol30y's link. Apparently it's known and there's already a bug tracker for it.

I had the same problem but ended up finding this on XDA & it works perfectly. http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?p=5883918
Just flash from recovery, then hit menu, select settings, select language & keyboard, then select the android keyboard that has speech to text & you should be good to go. Select android keyboard settings to see which one has speech to text, make sure it's enabled, then go back & deselect the android keyboard that doesn't.

Many thanks, that solved my problem!

I want to get the microphone icon on my keyboard but want to confirm this will work on my phone.

If I flash the zip file at  http://forum.xda-dev...p?p=5883918  it will add an alternate keyboard that will do that? Has anyone had issues with this?

I have a T-mobile G1 (USA) running CM 5.0.8 and Amon_RA.

I have almost the same setup as you but if you're worried you should just create a nandroid+ext Backup first, then go ahead & flash.
You should be good to go.  :)

I just noticed that even if the microphone is missing, you should be able to swipe your finger from left to right across the keyboard and the speech input will pop up. So, you may have speech input just not have the microphone icon key. I noticed this by going into Settings->Language & Keyboard->Android Keyboard....under that there is a setting to enable/disable voice input. If you disable it, back out, then go back in and enable it, it will pop up with the instructions I just mentioned. This may not be true for you, but I just thought I'd share it.

In the bug report, they say the hdpi version has issues on mdpi devices...

What kind of issues?
Where can we get the apk to test, just for testing?

Thx
