Helllo! Got a brazilian I9000B with the digital TV, did a sucessfull root using BackfireNL's update.zip. All was well untill I installed ROM Manager from market and told it to install ClockWork recovery. When it rebooted I told it to apply update.zip and it kept rebooting into recovery mode again without doing anything (and without booting to clockwork) so i selected reboot phone.

After it got back, I noticed that adb shell wont connect to the phone anymore, wifi wont connect and all apps that require root wont work (titanium backup says it was unable to acquire root privileges, for example) even they asking for root and I granting it to them. I have no clue on how to restore everything back to normal, tried unninstalling rom manager but didnt do anything. Tried rooting again, and no luck either. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hello all.

I read on the FAQ that models B are now supported, but cant find anyone in Brazil that confirms the upgrade.
If its supported, its supported. Will not bother devs.

I opened this mainly to discuss with I9000B owners, to share experience in how to properly make the magic with I9000B.
I saw someone bricking the device using Clockwork, and so on. Dont want to go to dead ends.

I am still planning to digg more and more to find the correct information, but if someone already did that, I (and everyone else) will apreciate a lot all information.

I came from HTC Magic and NexusOne, and putting CM on those devices was a breeze...

Best regards

Marco

I also had some issues with ClockWorkMod. If you can still get into download mode I suggest you flash an unbranded stock Eclair ROM for the I9000B, such as JH4/JI3/JH2/JH4 found here: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?p=8894957

Otherwise, I hope you already got your phone going again :)

Just upgraded my SGS i9000B to Froyo. FINALLY. But its still Samsung, full of problems. Need a real Android build. I read on twitter Samsung relased the kernel differences for i9000B, so I believe we are getting closer to run CM on SGS.

Changed title from CM6 to Cyanogen (more generic), since CM6.1 is no longer being coded for SGS.
Devs are working on Gingerbread now, cooking CM7.

Status for CM7 in general: twitter.com/cyanogen, github.com/cyanogenmod
Status for CM7 SGS: coolya, codeworkx

May the force be with you, guys.

Hi Lovato. I'd like to know which ROM you used to update to Froyo with Samsung stuffs. I want to my wife's SGS (I9000B), over all for giving her Flash and Skype, but she is really familiarized with Samsung apps.

So, I'd like to have any Froyo ROM, best if unbranded, but it should have the Samsung apps. Is like that the version you installed?

I'm new in this forum.
But i have interest to test the Cyanogen ROM.
I'm an user of the I9000B with the Samifirmware 2.2 BVJJPD. This version has low wifi signal problems, but is pretty stable.

Where can i find it?

For clarification, CM7 isnt yet fully available for i9000, and we hope that when it happens, will be made available to our i9000B too.

At this time, the best we can find is JPD (from Samsung, unbraded). Last week supercurio and some folks released a kernel update specifically for i9000B, to fix some stuffs, including audio recording and lag. This is the best available today.

Regards,

Actually the best available option ts the just released voodoo_latin.Froyo.C1[SND+Video+Lagfix] for I9000B (Latin America).

Hello amigos!

I'm using CM7 for 4 days on a I9000B from Claro and had no problems. There are some bugs, but it's ok for a beta release. The TV app is missing, but it's ok for me. The ROM is very fast compared to the stock Froyo. The visual is very nice!
A big issue a saw is that the carrier signal takes about 5 minutes to show up after a reboot. The WiFi signal is worst then was in stock Froyo.
I can say that the ROM is very stable and ok to use. Congratulations for the CM team for the great work!

i9000b is NOT officially supported. we dropped support for it in the merge to mainline because we have no developers to test and debug with. we refuse to support a device we cannot test.

helvio hasn't been a part of the team for months after (I think) he bricked his phone. he never came back and so support had to be dropped. if someone else wants to take up his place and work to support the phone, we welcome it, but until then it will remain unsupported.

Do you guys have something of his work? Know about where he was stucked? or what's missing to include this device on the suported list?
