Okay, so my gallery and my music player are kinda hosed. Apparently it can't find my movies or pictures or music, yet when I browse to the appropriate locations on my SD card using connectbot (or connect it to my computer), my files are all there. The device still finds and (un)mounts the SD card fine.

I've tried the following:

* fix permissions
* wipe cache
* wipe dalvik cache
* wipe battery cache (I've been meaning to do this anyway)

and nothing. no music, pictures, nothing. also if it matters, I can take a picture, reboot the device, and it will no longer show up in my gallery.

What happened? Should I reinstall the ROM? How do I go about fixing this one?

I'm also using 4EXT recovery, version 1.0.0.5 RC 6; testing build 46

I found the problem. For some reason there was a ".nomedia" file in my root folder on the SD card. Just delete the file.

Actually, I tried re-installing my current firmware (made a nandroid backup of the current install of course), no dice. I then installed CM7 (just CM7, no patches or google addons), still no dice. Then I restored the nandroid backup, and once again I get my videos, music, and pictures. Somehow it took out -every- single video file on my SD card though...

However, re-installing the current firmware restored my 4G, so it's not a Sprint problem, more like something in my current installation is screwing with it... but what...?

I fixed this problem with the Gallery Refresh app, available in the market. It refreshed the music and video players as well.
