Hello,

recently I flashed the CM9 RC2 on my Galaxy SI9000 coming from the latest stable CM7.2. In the beginning, everything was working fine, but now I'm experiencen syncing issues, I suppose.
Today, my contacts, which are on the hotmail server, disappeared. I discovered that automatic syncing was turned off, but after turning it on again, it did not show my contacts.
In the end I deleted my hotmail account and set it up again. This actually fixed my problem for several hours until my contacts disappeared again.
What is interesting, however, is that it seems to have the contact information somewhere. When I look at "missed calls", at least the name of some contacts is being shown (even if the contact photo is not).
When these contacts call me or if I call back, the name is not shown.

Does anybody experience the same issues? Would it be advisable to flash a nightly build? (In that case: would I have to wipe as well?)

Since I need a working phone, a quick solution would be very nice, even if I am sure that there is no quick solution to my problem.

Thank you in advance,

regards

i'm experiencing the same issues - and not just with my hotmail contacts, but also with hotmail calendar entries.

i've unsuccessfully tried the folowing [my translations from german ui]:

- delete hotmail account
- settings/apps/calendar/delete app data
- settings/apps/calendar memory/delete app data
- settings/apps/contacts/delete app data
- settings/apps/contacts memory/delete app data
- recovery/wipe cache partition
- recovery/advanced/wipe dalvik cache
- reboot
- reinstall hotmail account

the result is always the same: calendar and contact entries at first sync ok, then disappear after a couple of hours.

i've also tried several nightly builds, both pre- and post rc2 - with no change whatsoever.

i had been using some pre-rc2 nightlies for quite a while without any problems. when the issue first arose after installing rc2, i reverted back to an older backup and had the same problems. so my suspicion is that this has nothing to do with rc2. my impression is that there have been some changes to hotmail that ics can't cope with. maybe it's got to do with their new 'outlook.com' service?

i'm afraid my solution for the time being is to go back to cm7. :(

hope this problem is solved soon, because i really like cm9. but it's pretty useless without hotmail calendar and contacts sync...

I face the same problem since few days. Specifically since RC2. The latest nightly builds have not worked.

My contacts appear when I add my live account, then disappear for no reason.

I hope this problem is due more to Microsoft than CyanogenMod9.

Maybe we should report the bug to the developers so they will throw a look ..?

another strange thing:

new calendar entries (entered in a different client) actually do show up for a short while on my i9000 - and then disappear like the rest.

there clearly seems to be something wrong with the way cm9 handles hotmail contacts and calendars.

so, what's the best way to report this kind of bug to developers?

jeeez, that looks ... intimidating.
our bug doesn't seem to be there yet, right? at least i couldn't find it by searchin for 'hotmail', 'calendar', or 'exchange'.
do you have any experience with how to enter a new bug report there?
you need a gmail account, right?

Indeed, we must have a Google account to participate in bug reports.

I never reported bug. I just put my star to the bug I wanted to see resolved as quickly as possible.

let's hope they'll fix this issue soon.

I am now also following the issue in the bug tracker.

I also tried the newest nightly build, but it did not help my problem. I am now going into holidays, and when I come back, maybe there is a working nightly out :)

regards,
John

PS: I discovered that from time to time, there are two hotmail accounts with the exact same credentials installed. At least it says so in the email accounts properties. Maybe this is a hint to the developers..?

I just hope they will not forget to correct this problem by stopping developing for CM9.

@neulingk

Did you used to do a wipe data/factory reset after flashing an update ? I read that not doing so could have adverse consequences on the calendar synchronization. Maybe the same with contacts?

i don't do a complete factory reset every time i update to a new daily build. but when this issue arose, i did of course try it, without success.

but as you've seen in the other thread, there is some indication now that this issue is no longer an issue at all.

i suggest that we continue all discussion of it in that thread.
