I noticed that since I installed CM9 (build 20120710), my battery discharges so fast.
I have had battery fully charged last night. I switched data transfer off, switched mobile network to 2G, also set up my screen brightness to lowest, no apps were running in background as I had task killer on.
I checked battery before went to sleep - was 99%. Woke up this morning and checked - 81%. This is even worse when 3G or WiFi is on :/
This situation didn't happen before (I was on stock XJW4 rooted).
Does anyone know what might be an issue?

Ok, I will try that kg3, but... what should I pay attention to when changing modem? What is actually a function modem do? Can I freely try one after one? Can any of them damage my phone?

The modem is a binary that controls the phone's radio antenna. You can freely flash them in recovery mode without wiping anything. Chances are quite low that they will damage your phone.
Pay attention to battery drain while idle and the signal strength in a known location (say, the corner of your desk). Preferably test the speed using an online speed test after flashing each modem.
As a side note, try installing CPU Spy from the market. It will show the frequencies that your CPU has been running at. If your phone never enters "Deep Sleep" while the screen is off then you may have a poorly coded application on your device that is holding wakelock. If this is the case, try freezing/uninstalling applications that you have installed until you find the culprit.
Last thing: don't use a task killer; the whole idea of it is stupid. Android does task killing for you, and it does it well.

That is the most comprehensive answer I ever got. Thank you so much for this
... I am thinking wich modem would be the greatest? I am in UK (Channel Islands, Jersey). I am trying KG3 at the moment and it looks to work ok. I use ROM Manager to download modems. Do you change them in any different way?

I have been using Nexus S modems for a few months now. Good signal low drain. I don't think they're available on ROM manager.

Experiencing the same problem, I believe I first had XXJVK modem installed. But was experiencing some serious battery-draining (3G - Wifi) then I downloaded the KG3 and installed it. Still draining.
Example:
Wake up (let's say 10am) and unplug charger and activate wifi
1 hours later (and send 1 text meanwhile) has discharged over 10%. I don't think this is normal.
Any suggestions? I'm from Belgium, if that is relevant...

Perhaps try a newer nightly? For odd reasons, some updates cause more battery drain than others. I also recommend that you ditch the task killer, as it contributes to battery drain in most cases. Also, what does the battery use screen tell you?

The nightly build I am using is 20120729.
Looking at the battery use screen:
During the use of WiFi, Android OS is experiencing a spike of battery use. I believe this is the cause of the battery drain. I didn't do anything during a 15min period where it's usage went from 5% to 15%.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm living in Germany, and I'm running the XXJVT modem version. It behaves well, I have good coverage, and if I turn off the GPS/Wifi/Bluettoth, and use the phone as a phone (not playing/chatting, etc.) I know I can have it running for more than 4 days without charging.
