Total newbie here, so check my work before proceeding because I didn't take careful notes. I had the problem of the google play store not working, so I downloaded that gapps.zip file you mentioned and it was either saved directly to the phone (SGH-i897) or I somehow copied it onto the phone. I used a program called ES File Explorer to figure out where the phone put the file. It seems there's something not quite right with Mod 9 and SD cards. They're not referenced in the normal fashion so stuff shows up in other places than what documentation you read elsewhere may indicate. Anyway, after I figured out where the phone was hiding the file, I restarted in recovery mode. There's a way to use the volume key as up and down and the power key for "enter" and then you can navigate to the file and select it. After I did that, the gapps was added on and everything worked.
Now, does anybody know what I should select as my phone type in ClockWork? I have SGH-i897 Captivate, but the radio says i9000UGKG3, which I think is from a different model. Therefore, I don't know if I should select i897, i897 MTD, i9000,etc. What is MTD?
