So I was listening to music on my Droid 2 and I had pulled out the headphones and just put them in my pocket (did not touch the phone after that) and about an hour later I checked my phone and somehow it got to the menu option to erase my sd card and now it is not being detected/ unable to mount. No idea what to do.

I've had that happen a couple of times with my D2. I never found out what caused it but just started over. It hasn't happened in a while. Hopefully, most of your stuff is backed up. That will save you some time.

So how would I start over, just format the card? Through my computer I am assuming

That's what I ended up doing. It's been working fine for a couple of months since the most recent time it happened. Good luck!
