I'm unsure of how to do this, but I have been getting a lot of random sound-loop crashes and restarts and things like that lately. This is of course rather annoying, and I would like to know if cyanogenmod outputs any error log files when the phone hard-restarts or something like that. If not, is there a way that I can create an error log file so that I can possibly help in resolving the problems that are currently plaguing my device?

I've heard about logcat, but would that help in this case?
