Hi guys,

First of, I'm completely new to the world of non-vendor Android firmwares and sincerely impressed by what you have pulled of. My CyanogenMod 7.2 on my Incredible S runs super smooth and has not crashed on me once since I installed it 3 days ago.

I have one serious issue, though: When I call people or they call me, I don't hear a thing. Neither do they. Apart for some static, but I don't even hear that. My device is completely mute.
I have put it on loudspeaker with no luck. Same silence.

When in call and I dial numbers on the keypad, though, the other person receives *beep* sounds from me.

Now, since I'm new to this, I'm not sure where or how to start asking for help. I would love to give you a debug log and any information that might help track this issue down. Just let me know how I can obtain these things from the device.

Some more info I got on my phone:
Build number: GWK74
Baseband version: 20.23.30.0802U_38.02.01.11_M
Kernel version: 2.6.35.14

I have ADB installed, in case that makes debugging any easier. So far I tried rebooting, clearing the cache and clearing the Davlik cache.

Thanks for your help, it would be great if I didn't have to revert to my stock HTC just to make some phone calls and miss all the great CyanogenMod wonders!

A week and 130 views later, no one even cared to reply. Fairly discouraging to a new user, don't you think?

Luckily, I just solved my problem and I will share it here for other users to benefit from.

The problem was apparently my old radio/baseband version. As written above, I was using the stock Baseband version: 20.23.30.0802U_38.02.01.11_M. Upgrading to a newer radio was no easy task for a beginner but I managed it and it actually brought voice in calls back - both for me and my conversation partners.

The radio I flashed on my device was from this list of HTC Incredible S radios. I chose radio version 20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22 (md5: 07e9af5646ce9942ee6e84184c0425b0) that I saw recommended on another forum post. Then I followed this wiki entry detailing the radio flashing process. I had some problems installing the drivers for my device so ADB could find it, but I luckily solved that to via a manual driver installation of the Google USB drivers.

If you don't want to use ADB, you can also just Windows-copy the file to your SD card root, preserving the filename and ensuring that the copied file on the sd card has the same md5 hash as the one from the download. Then reboot into fastboot, not directly into recovery. Fastboot will detect your PG32IMG.zip and offer to install the new radio. Don't get nervous during the process, it takes some time and gets stuck a little in the end. It should finish fine, though.

A reboot later and I was able to call and be called as if I never had a problem. I have not checked anything else since but let's hope for the best.
