Hi all,

I am using a I727R (Rogers) with CM9 latest nightly. I have not seen the 4G or the LTE icon on the top corner. I have not seen it on other nightlies either. I have seen it when trying out other ROMS, very regularly.

When I go into "About Phone -> Status" it does flash HSPAP:15 once in a while (don't know if that helps) when I am drawing data into phone.

With speedtest.net app, I am pulling these numbers: 112ms ping, 6650kbps down, 2472kbps up.

The Icon only flashes between 3G&H only.

In myArea, I do know that 4G HSPA+ is available. Don't know about LTE.

Please help, Thanks

Heeter

I'm also using Rogers SGH-I727R. The icon shows 4G, not LTE though but I'm guessing it's just an icon thing.

You have to add the APN manually because it's not added in CM9. I had a problem where whenever I chose LTE as my network mode, I'd lose data connectivity but than r00t_sh3ll told me that I don't have the APN and when I added it manually, everything worked.

Just google "lte apn setting rogers" and add it manually and everything should be fine.

Also, once you change your APN settings, when you have LTE it will be listed as 4g in the notification bar. You can run a speed test to confirm you are indeed receiving LTE.
LTE = 4g
4g = H
3g = 3g

Do you know if the icon will be added in future nightly? I know, it's stupid but I like seeing the LTE icon :)

Haha I know what you mean. I have no clue if they will add it. I also don't know if the issue only exists with our phone or if it's something that is on every CM9.

Thanks for your help,

I have located the apn settings. I have entered the new apn. But there is a line that I cannot enter. The "MMS PROTOCOL" is missing and I do not know how to add that line the new apn.

Please help

Thanks

I just see it in the apn settings that I googled, do I need it "MMS PROTOCOL =WAP 2.0"?

Here is the whole settings I found on XDA

APN - ltemobile.apn
Proxy - <not set>
Port - <not set>
Username- <Not set>
Passwors - <not set>
Server < not set>
MMSC - http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS - proxy 10.128.1.69
MMS - Port 80
MMS protocol - Wap 2.0
MCC - 302
MNC - 720
Aythentication type - < not set>
APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work

What is your APN settings for LTE?

Thanks

Heeter

LTE = 4g
4g = H
3g = 3g

Hi Nox, so if I am seeing the "H" in my statusbar, it means "4G"? I am in Edmonton, there is no LTE available, only 4G, so I will see the "H" for 4G?

Correct H means you have 4G.  You can run a speed test with the speedtest.net app https://play.google....ch?q=speed test to make sure of the speed.
Here is an article saying that you should be getting LTE in Edmonton by the end of the year :) http://www.androidau...-canada-100363/

Everything is the same for me, except I do not have the "MMS protocol - Wap 2.0" line.
For APN type - either "*" or "internet + mms" Should work I use *.
Also leave Bearer to Unspecified and make sure Network mode is set to LTE/GSM.
You might have to reboot for it to take affect.

Okay, Great, thanks for all your help, I was just confused that the "H" actualy meant something else on CM9. Would you know if this 3G/H/4G/LTE icons are getting fixed for our devices for CM9?

Thanks a million, for all your assistance, Nox

I have no clue if it will change.  I don't know if its that way for all devices or just ours.
Glad to help, I recently flashed CM9 to my new skyrocket(Rogers) so the steps where still fresh in my head.

The other ROMS I tried do have the 4G/3G icons correct, so it is a CM9 issue.

Too bad the other ROMS that are not CM9 are flipping ugly with that touchwiz GUI.

Thanks again,

Heeter

I wasn't getting the 4g icon either when I first installed the skyrocket nightlies.  I found a setting under Mobile Networks called Network Mode, which can be set to "LTE / GSM" or just GSM.

Sure  enough, it was defaulted to just GSM.  Switched to LTE/GSM and the 4g icon immediately popped up.

Apologies if this is bleeding obvious to everyone else!

I am also having the issue of no LTE or 4G icons showing up. I only get 3g and H.

I've changed my APN settings to exactly as above and set the network mode to LTE/GSM instead of GSM but still no dice. (In fact it occasionally drops connection using these settings which is a bit annoying. I may put the default cyanogenmod ones in as a fallback when it drops)

I should note though that on the stock Rogers firmware I never had any other icon besides 4G. Even though LTE is supposedly deployed where I am.
(and I do have an LTE sim).

It is a bit unnerving to not see the 4G icon. Would be nice if it were fixed but I am glad to know that it is just simply an icon issue not actually slower speeds.

I think with Rogers, you also need to have an LTE data plan.  So you need the  LTE data plan, the LTE sim card, the LTE phone and be in an LTE area.

+1

With Rogers, all that has to align to get official LTE.

Also switching to certain theme chooser themes can net you the lte icon if the icon is all your looking for  I have seen a couple that have it.

I live in an area with LTE and I've been running nightlies since 7/10. My device shows the entire range of data icons (4G/H/3G) accurately...
