A collaboration between the CM Team and TeamWin has created an updater for CyanogenMod.  It's called GooManager.  You  can download it from the market.  It runs in conjunction with TWRP that was written by TeamWin.  Once GooManager is installed, tap the three dots in the upper R/H corner and tap the script installer.  This will install TWRP replacing CWM.  TWRP is a touch based replacement which is so much nicer to use than CWM.  Once GooManger and TWRP are installed, updating your rom is so much easier.  Watch this video by Rev.Kyle to see how is is installed and  works:

Perhaps you could point out a time in the 23:31 where he gets to the relevant parts because for the first 4 minutes he was just talking and doing shout-outs to the TeamWin members.

+1 on TWRP and GooManager. I was a long time ClockWorkMod user until I tried this. Everything is 10x easier. Plus TWRP has a better interface that is easier to navigate quickly.

Even though the video is long, it's worth watching

Don't know what you mean by stuck on the June 27th update.  Select browse compatible roms and find the tenderloin/nightlies area.  You should see all the nightlies from March 27 up to today.  Pick the one you want and download and flash it.

The unofficial nightlies stopped being produced around the 27th in favor of the official nightlies, you need to switch as Nevertells mentioned.

Agree, Goo Manager updates are nice. Download, reboot, done. No clicking through CWM menus.

In the video, I did not see you remove CWM, but since TWRP takes over that menu option at boot, how would you get back to CWM?

Also, does wiping the 2 cache's do?  It looks like when you booted into the new ROM, all your apps and settings were still in tact.

i installed TWRP and flashed the latest nightly this morning, 7/13...
When it booted up, everything was still intact. I only had to toggle wifi off and back on and everything went well.. i've been at work all day though, so i will tinker with it when i get home. CWM is cool, but i do like TWRP, it's so simple.

Downloaded Goo and been trying to Install Open Recovery Script but get "Invalid MD5"
Finally got it to work.  The boot menu says "Boot TWRP", not "Boot ClockWorkMod" is shown in the video.

So my question is, if I want to go back to CWM (load my prior backups), how would I do that?

i'm not sure about going back to CWM, but it seems like you should be able to use TWRP, to navigate to the download folder or wherever your old backups were stored and flash them as needed...

Currently I have CM7 on my touchpad. Can it be used to upgrade from CM7 to the latest CM9 nightly?

If you use GooManager to install TWRP, CWM will be uninstalled in the process.

If you want to return to CWM, use TWRP to install it.  You should always clear both caches after installing a new rom.

Now that you have TWRP installed, make a backup.  TWRP is not compatible with backups created with CWM.

No, you have to use ACMEInstaller2.

CWM backups not compatible with TWRP.  Use TWRP to make a backup now and you are good.

Install ROM Manager in the Google Play, and use it to reinstall clockworkmod over TWRP.  You can switch back and forth between recoveries with Rom Manager and GooManager.

Thanks, Nevertells.  I just ditched my CWM backups and made a new backup with TWRP.  With compression took less then 10 minutes and is a smaller file then my old backup, so that's a bonus!

Hey Mates.  SO I watched the video, installed goo manager, gave it superuser, and (thought I ) installed TWRP 2.2.  Alas it appears TWRP installed just enough of itself to bork CWM  but not enough to actually run.  I get "Failed to load" and wrong size.

I tried to put CWM back with Rom Manager.  No luck there, and I've tried to install TWRP a few times with Goo Manager.

Any thoughts on what to try next?  Thanks in advance!

Have you been trying out other roms besides CM?  Reason I ask is there is limited room in the /boot folder and once if gets full, you will get errors like you are getting.  First I would install Rom Toolbox Lite and have a look in the /boot folder.  Look for ulmage.clockworkMod or ulmage.TWRP.  If both are there, get rid of them.  Also look for ulmages for old roms like ClassicNerd, AOKP, CherryKang, BlackWidow, etc.  Do not delete any ulmages named:
ulmage.webOS, or ulmage.2.6.35-palm-tenderloin or just plain ulmage.

There are several ways to get one or the other installed.  Use ACMEInstaller2 to install the one you want.  After deleting both files, try GooManager again.  Or since you have the zips for both files, unzip the one you want and copy and paste the ulmage into the /boot folder, of course after deleting the original ulmages.  Make sure if you use the ACME method that the file name begins with "update" without the quotes.
