Had been rooted before, and had been on the cm-7.1 version for a while.  Updated to the above version yesterday and while many apps work, I cannot get to Gmail (flashes to screen, then gone).

When I try and access the Google Play Store, I get a message that says 'You must add an account to the device to continue.  Do you want to add one now?'  Regardless of whether I respond 'Yes' or 'No', The screen moves back to 'Home'.

Anyone having this issue?  Solution?

You probably need to reflash the gapps package http://goo.im/gapps

Yeah, the initial version of Google Play is buggy that way.
As bassmadrigal suggested, more recent versions at least bring you to a dialog that lets you enter an account, and that can be gotten in the gapps.zip package.

One other detail: if you have application-specific authorization enabled in your Google account, it won't take your gmail account.  You'll need to go to your Google account info page, under
Accounts->Security-> Authorizing applications and sites [Edit]
and create a new password for the device, which you then enter into that dialog.
