How about I just post the wiki article we have explaining how to install CM9? And no, it doesn't require rooting, but according to the guide, you need to be running ICS. I don't know if the instructions will work if you aren't (according to your profile, you are still running 2.3.6).

Thanks a lot,  I am able to flash 7.2 RC on my phone.  Just one feedback,  for the first timer it is very scary to execute the last instruction in rom manager method .  It just says to install the rom.  They should give the exact steps of doing it.  But cm is awesome. I am going to donate.

You mean ROM Manager should explain what it is doing or the guide? ROM Manager is basically a front-end to ClockworkMod recovery. It is just doing everything that you would be doing manually.
