My SGH-i777 was working fine, I downloaded the latest Update CM9 Nightlies 2012-06-09 directly from CM's download site. I was running CM9 Nightlies 2012-06-03 previously.
I put the Update in the root of the internal SD memory. I started up ROManager, and selected the "Flash ROM Update" option. The Phone shut off, as normal, so it can go into Recovery Mode and Flash the Update automatically.
The phone never got into the Recovery Menu! I waited for about 5 mins, but nothing was booting up on the screen.
So I removed the battery and inserted it back in to turn it back on. It shows the Galaxy SII Splash Screen and then the screen turns off, and it just keeps flickering on and off. You cant see the flickering unless your in a dark room, in the daylight you won't notice it, because the backlight turns on for a split second and its really faint.
So I ruled out that its not that the battery has died, because before I started up ROManager the battery was full.
Anyways, can you guys help me? Thanks in advance!

Most Samsung phones use a non-standard recovery system, which Rom Manager (for some reason) is still not compatible with. DO NOT TRY TO FLASH ROMS FROM ROM MANAGER ON A SAMSUNG. Using Rom Manager to download roms is fine, just reboot to recovery and flash them manually.
Basically, the settings rom manager passed to CWM are incorrect, so it panics and reboots. Since these settings are written to flash, they never clear; and you get stuck in a loop. To fix it, you need to clear the data that rom manager wrote.
I'm not sure exactly what it would take, but here's few ideas:
With the phone off, hold down the "volume up" and "volume down" keys, then press power to manually force a boot into recovery, which might clear out the previous data.
With the phone off, hold the volume keys, and- without touching power- plug the phone into a usb cable to force it into download mode. Again, this might clear the recovery flag.
If the last two didn't work, you can use download mode to flash a new kernel, which should also clear the settings. If the kernel includes CWM, you should be able to use it to manually install the new CM update immediately, without having to flash all the way back to stock.
If all else fails, you can buy a "usb jig" tool for fairly cheap online, which should fix your problem.

I know with the HTC One X, if you are unable to get into recovery, you have to use fastboot to erase the cache. I don't know if the same would work for a Samsung.

You are correct as far as the goal being to wipe the cache partition, but I don't think the sgs2 has fastboot support.
I've done some more research since my last post, however, and it looks like odin & heimdall both have the ability to flash a new image to the cache. It looks like the official Samsung roms all include a cache image, so you should be able to extract it from one of those.
I haven't found anyone else attempting to do this yet, though, and I don't know if the cache from an official GB image would be compatible with CM9 or not. Although it probably can't make anything worse, I'd still recommend you try my other suggestions before you flash anything.
