switched from stock 2.3.3 to cyanogen nightly yesterday's build. everything else works well (actually i love it), but the mobile is not showing any network even though it seems to registers itself on the network and creates apn settings automatically. if i search for networks, it shows all networks available, but it doesn't connect to any of them. As a result, i am unable to use the phone to make calls or send messages (wifi works fine). can anyone help, or if it can be fixed soon, will be great.
p.s. using the vodafone network in india.

I am actually guessing that it is because of an install problem. When installed, did you perform a Factory Reset/Data Wipe?

yes, factory reset was performed, and i actually did the whole process of wipe and reset again.. but the problem persisted... so i flashed the stock GB XXJVU and then it works well.
could it be because of the efs folder? can take a backup and restore it again after installing the nightly.. or maybe a particular modem...?

I don't know what the efs folder is, and unfortunately I am not all that familiar with Samsung radios/modems. Maybe someone else will pipe in with what they are using.

Problem solved. That's what worked for me:
I completely reflashed the phone with a stock rom using heimdall. After that I retried the flashing procedure described in the cyanogen wiki.
But after I flashed the speedmod kernel I wiped the /system par***ion. Flashed CM9 afterwards and everything worked just fine.
Hope that helps if someone should encounter the same problem.

what solved the problem for me is i flashed stock 2.3.6 and then reflashed cm9 nightly dated 2 july, twice after wipe (on doing it once, the phone didn't boot and remained stuck in the loop), it works well.

I tried installing CM9 RC2 last night and ran into the same problem. I am on AirTel - it would either not recognize the network, or register on it (it would get the Date and Time from the network properly) and then stay in "Emergency Call Only" mode. I was coming from stock and it was my first time installing Cyanogen (or any other non-official build) I played around a bit, tried flashing some different radios (I tried JVQ and KH3) didn't help. What I do remember is the first time it started, it gave an error saying it had trouble encrypting the file system or something (sorry don't remember more - I was too excited to just be on something non-stock). I wiped everything again after that, but it wouldn't work - so I moved to CM7.2, which has been working awesomely till now. Hope this gets resolved before the final release of CM9, all I have used heimdall for is just once to flash a new CWM as per the CM install instructions on the Wiki, so I really hope to avod going back to stock etc.
