I'm running 7.2 RC3 on my INC2 and everything is awesome, but I've found a way to hose my devices connection to my mobile network :)  The use 2G networks checkbox wrecks havoc with my mobile network connectivity.  Upon checking this box, my signal strengh changes to infinity and the phone is constantly searching for service.  A reboot or battery pull doesn't made a difference.  I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to Android ROMs, so the only fix I know is to restore my previous backup.  Previously I was running a 7.1 nightly.  I don't recall the 2g checkbox ever working for me in that rom either, but I don't think it put my mobile network connection in a bad state.  I'm back to 7.2 RC3. I've tested this checkbox twice, with the same result.

Have you tried from a completely fresh install? The easiest way to do this is to perform a nandroid backup of your good working install (which you can revert to when you are done testing), and then format the /system partition and perform a Factory Reset/Data Wipe. After this, reinstall CM and gapps and see if you can reproduce the problem. If you can, report the bug at http://cyanogenmod.com/bugs. If not, then we may want to consider backing up your apps and restoring them on a clean build.

Are you on a CDMA or GSM network? I had the same problem with my HTC Inc 2 and Cyanogen 7.2.0. Eventually I found out that checking the 2G box also switches the phone from CDMA/EVDO auto over to GSM or WCDMA and it would show "No SIM Card" on the lockscreen. My problem was fixed after unchecking the box, changing the network mode back to CDMA/EVDO auto and rebooting the phone.
