Strange .. I have Superuser installed, and ES FileExplorer, which were approved in the Settings Root Copy-Paste actions .. and works perfectly.

Your file manager needs to be root enabled to be able to change stuff in the /system partition. It also needs the ability to change the /system partition to read/write instead of read-only. I personally use Root Explorer (costs a few bucks) and it has a simple button in the upper right corner to switch to read/write mode.

But you don't have to replace the stock bootanimation.zip, you can add your own to the /data/local directory (make sure it is still called bootanimation.zip). And since I don't know what the default permissions need to be off the top of my head, it might be beneficial to run a fix_permissions afterward.

i've tired to use the default file manager then downloaded ES FileExplorer, and tried the   (/data/local directory ) method, unfortunately the /data file is empty, not sure why.......?

You are a pressed Paste, but the ES is not recorded file in the folder. Are you in the ES Settings check Root Explorer and Mount File System..?

Not sure what you saying there mate, anyway i have another question, is it safe to open the ROM zip file and replacing the boot animation from there before flashing it on the phone, using the system/media directory within the zip?

To change things in /system or /data you need to make sure you enable any root options that a file manager may have. Root Explorer is automatically enabled. /data is automatically read/write, but with /system, you need to change it from read-only to read/write (I am not sure how to do this with other file managers).

As for replacing it in the zip, that should work, but you will need to turn of the signature check when you go to flash it.

"In the
ES Settings check Root Explorer and Mount
File System.." - That's for ES FileaExplorer app - settings to enable any root options.

Thank Bassmadrigal. I simply replaced it in the zip and reflashed my phone works just as perfect as before.
