Hi Guys....need some help here.

I've been using CM7.1 for quite a few months now without problem. However today my phone suddently switched off by itself, and I cannot switch it on using the Power button. Instead, I need to take the battery out first before put it back & press the Power button.

Here where the problem happened !! It got stucked in the boot screen logo. When I go into the Recovery Mode, I noticed that the phone cannot mount the SD card, thus I can't reflash the .zip file or go to any Menu to try to use the SD card, I will receive error notifications similar to below:

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:/nandroid/

I've been reading a few forums & following the tutorials (e.g. http://forum.xda-dev...t=872966&page=1), (http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1053151) but NO LUCK :( .

Can anyone here care to help me? Thanks.

If you remove the sdcard, does the phone boot?

it goes straight to the Bootloader screen. even if i put back the SD card, it goes to this screen (although i'm not pressing the Vol Down + Power buttons).

Somehow it may have corrupted your system partition. Do you have another sdcard you can test with to see if you can reload CM? (I am leaning towards this just being an sdcard failure, but it could actually be a hardware issue)

I tried to put my old SD card but it's still the same (automatically opens the Bootloader screen). But when i go to the Recovery menu, the phone can read the contents of this SD card. I only saved the CM7.0.2 ZIP file on this card, so should I put the CM7.1.0 into this SD card (using another phone of course) and reflash the device? Or it would be okay to re-flash an older version of the ROM (my phone is currently in CM7.1.0)?

Flashing an older version might cause issues with the CM settings (since things have been added and modified since CM7 was first released), so I would recommend at least 7.1.0, but you should be able to do 7.2RC2 as well. But while you are in recovery, you can mount your sdcard to the computer and copy it over USB. I think the option is under the Mounts and Storage menu. This way you don't have to do it all with another phone.

Make sure your format your /system partition (also found in the Mounts and Storage menu) before your flash CM and gapps. This won't cause any data loss.

I've copied the CM7.1.0 on the SD card & reflash the ROM. And walla.....my phone is functioning again :D . Thanks a lot for your help. I've used my method (copying the CM7.1.0 version into the SD card using another phone) because  whenever I tried to use the options under the Mounts and Storage menu, I get error notification. So I guess my current SD card is corrupted.

Now, the problem  (it's an unconvenience actually) is that I have to use a 2GB SD card since my 16GB's is corrupted  . I guess I've to live with that; only installing the important Apps due to limited storage...at least until I but a new card :(

Since I'm using my old SD card, there are still some files from my previously installed Apps are there in the card (e.g. com.whatsapp, com.instagram.android, etc.). Where can I find these files so that I can delete it?

Thanks again.

Any apps moved to the sdcard (using froyo's method, not app2sdext) would be stored in the .android_secure folder on the root of the sdcard. However, Android locks that folder while it is booted up, so it will either need to be erased in the computer or through recovery.
