I know most of the people here will be using CM but I expect many of the people here have experimented with other ROMS before.
Now I really like CM7 but I'm getting a bit bored of it and am looking forward to seeing CM9 on the DHD. However being a bit impatient I'm wanting to try out a different ROM in the meantime.
So I'm wondering whats the best ICS ROM for DHD out there at the moment? In terms of stability and features...

This is my favorite by far. But I still run 7.2 rc1 mainly. More stable and smooth. Try it out though. Works good.

That looks nice! Good to see one where most of the stuff seems to work! Is there anything major that doesn't work?

One of the major things that doesn't work with aospX is the video camera (last I checked). It seems to be that way with most other ICS ROMs for the DHD.

I've also tried Ice Cold Sandwhich http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1450962 I likes it but I use CM7.2 RC1 as my daily

Yeah I've seen most don't have the camera working :( According to the aospX thread the "camera" works but its not clear if that's the video camera or not...

Hi all !!

For me the best ICS ROM is IceColdSandwich - 7.4 - AOKP | STRIPPER EDITION -> http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1450962

I work with my phone and all is ok.

What's Working
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • Camera
  • FM Radio (with Spirit FM app from play store, select ICSPlus in settings))
  • Everything else "should" work
  • AlienMind Overlay Script
To have your apps and scripts etc automatically installed during ROM flash place them in:
    sdcard/overlay/system/app/ (for system apps)
    sdcard/overlay/system/etc/init.d/ (for scripts)
    etc
What's Broken
  • Video Camera - use Videoillusion cam app from market
  • MMS (doesn't work for some users)

Running AOSPX at the moment, camera runs fine and video cam will work using videocamera illusion app but only at lower resolutions, The video camera problem will likely not be resolved until after the release of the ICS source, which is expected in july - august.

I have tried most of the ICS roms, LC Ice cold sandwhich builds were nice but contain too much cr*p for my liking and the incremental upgrades tended to have useability issues for me.

aospX BR4 Is the best aosp ICS rom out there. In the latest version everything works (ever video recording, but only at low res.). But to me it's the most stable and fastest 4.0.4 Rom out there. And when HTC gets the ICS kernel and drivers out with ICS for the DHD so the Dev's can use them in there Rom's it will be fantastic.

CM9 unofficial, ticks all the boxes at present, although as we aren't going to see an official HTC ICS release it appears development is switching to JB.
