Hey Guys,

I have had some experience with the Mod and been enjoying it on my ZTE Blade without any problems (even though installation is far more complicated than for Galaxy S :) ). Recently I got mentioned Galaxy S i9000 and I do have some problems :(. Not with the installation itself but (as I assume) there are some issues with internal storage/mounting. Here is what I did and what does not work (I will mention here that I did google, got through the forum and found no way to get rid of the issue):

The problem I have is that I cannot for some reason install some of the apps in the market even though they are absolutely compatible with the device. One example is Death Rally which I played prior to installing CyanogenMod without any problems on the device for several hours. Currently the app does not even appear on the market as I search for it on the phone. It is updated to Play Store now. When I try to "force" install by installing it from a PC on the appropriate google account I get an error (on the phone) saying that the app is not compatible with the device, what is not true. Any ideas on what may be the problem?

What I did/more information:

- I do not have any SD card in the phone, am using only internal storage
- I did a full wipe before installing the Mod via Clockwork (full wipe+delete cache and Delvik Cache)
- I did not do explicit format of all partitions (this is done by full wipe as the information says during wipe, so I do not think this is needed)
- I partitioned internal SD card - for EXT size I took 2GB, for SWAP 128MB
- I have been trying to mount/unmount partitions in Clockwork (/system, /data etc), but this does not make much difference
- I have tried to change (under Cyanogen) where apps are being installed (Internal/External/Automatic) and also tried using Internal memory for apps (I did a reboot after that), but this does not help (with the last option on, even the camera does not work, it says it requires SD card to take photos, so I disabled it).

That is more or less the issue and what I did. Other than that the system seems to be working fine, however I did not do much on it. Any help/hint will be appreciated.

What version did you actually install? For your phone, I believe there is a stable release (7.1), a release candidate (7.2RC1) and a nightly (CM9).

And a "full wipe" does not include the /system partition. You really should format that before you install a new version of CM. All you actually need to do to give yourself a clean phone is format the /system partition and perform a Factory Reset/Data Wipe. The Factory Reset will clear all your caches, so there is no need to wipe those separately. The only thing left would be the sdcard (or the internal memory acting as an sdcard... I am not too familiar with your phones partition layout).

Thanks for the reply!

I actually did not notice that you need also manually format /system partition... It is good to know that. Maybe this was the cause of the issue... Anyway I had latest stable release installed (hence why I posted in this thread :) ) which had this issue. Later I installed 7.2RC1 and the issue seems to be a little smaller let's call it that ;). I noticed that with 7.2 the partitions were changed and by default the internal SD is mounted as /emmc and after I checked "Use internal storage for applications" (or something ;) ) I actually got it as internal SD card which I believe is correct. This however did not resolve the problem of not appearing Death Rally in the Play Shop. When I "forced" installation from PC the game actually installed and worked but in the shop under the phone it still said that it is incompatible. So I guess RC1 is better, but still it is not it I suppose.

As for CM9 it did not even load, got stuck on animated logo. May have been though I did not format /system partition... Maybe I will try some other CM later on, for now I installed Dark Knight 5.5 based on ICS 4.0.4 and it works great and fine so I will stay with that.

If someone would confirm my issue on another Galaxy S I can fill out bug report if this will help out. For now I will not do that because I did not full wipe it seems and I do not want to reformat again to check since current ROM works fine.
