So I just installed 7.1.0 last week, and everything is working perfectly except for one thing. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue, but whenever I slide the keyboard open the backlight turns off. If I hold my phone up to a light I can see that the screen is still on, but the backlight isn't. Sliding it back to the normal position doesn't do anything. The only way that I can use my keyboard and see what I'm doing is if I slide it open and hit the power button twice (to turn the screen off and then back on), which is quite annoying. Any ideas?

Did you try a data factory reset and fresh install of the ROM and gapps?  Also to find out if it's a hardware issue might want to try installing the stock ROM.
