Hi, I followed the instructions on the Idiot-Proof Guide to install CM on my Captivate SGH-i897 with Froyo. Everything went OK with the exception that, after installing the Gingerbread Bootloader, I couldn't get the firmware to run, the normal start screen was stuck on the Galaxy S screen. Since, I didn't get an error message, I went ahead to step 3C (Speedmod Kernel). It was installed OK.

I had copied update-cm-7.1.0-Captivate-signed.zip in both the external and the internal SD card. So when I went into recovery mode, I chose the zip in the int. card. I got the following error message (sorry for the quality):

So I tried to use the zip from the external card, but I can't explore it. I can only see Android\ folder with not much in it. I used another card (empty except for the zip file) but I get the same Android\ folder. When I run the signature verification option, I get 'signature verification failed'. If I plug the USB in recovery mode, I get the "bad drivers" sound (I tried all my USB ports).

Now I don't know where to start again :(

Now I don't know what to do. I can't boot normally and I can't install a firmware.

Update: I installed the drivers and I copied the zip file on the int. card. I got the same message as above:

ro.product.board

Update2: No luck with this version. Fortunately, I was able to install another CM-based mod.

You have to remove the ext card, save the zip on internal memory and flash from there withoout the ext memory inserted.
