So I'm admittedly a noob when it comes to this kind of thing, so try to bear with me.
I was sitting in class, when I felt my phone vibrate, I recieved a text message. I pull out my phone, it starts vibrating again, it's restarting.
I do a battery swap, figuring maybe my battery is dead. Nope. It's stuck. It restarts over and over again and can't do anything.
I can access bootloader, but can't get into recovery, so I couldn't just flash a nandroid backup. I did a complete wipe, tried to boot without the SD card, etc, etc. I took it to the "s" store and even the tech couldn't flash the stock rom back onto the phone. Basically, without being able to access Recovery, I'm SOL.
I've tried putting the original CM7 file "update-cm-7.0.3.1-Supersonic-" back onto the SD card, but it doesn't recognize the image and won't flash.
I feel like I've tried everything, and I don't have another decent phone so I'm stuck using my bB. I'm sure you know how painful that is.
If anyone can help! I'm willing to do anything to fix it, it does no good to me like this.

Put amon ra recovery on the root of your sd card as 'PC36IMG' and go into bootloader. Let the bootloader recognize the file and click up for 'yes'- you should then have a recovery- if this isn't clear for you, let me know

I belive this is the thread I've been needing. I have HTC Evo 4G. Unlocked bootloader, flashed cm7. Now I'm looking to flash something new but whem I boot into bootloader it works but says I have PC36DIAG.img missing. Not really a noob but unlocking the bootloader and such really flexed my geek. This error is why my recovery isn't working? when I go to recovery it just flashes white HTC screen and goes back to the bootloader. What and how do I procure the needed files? Please help.

I have an idea about your problem, but i don't want to be wrong and jack anything up. i'm just posting because i assume you need an answer quick, and i wanted to direct you to a thread, (and also to androidforums whose mods/members are SUPER helpful...if you're not a member you should just join.)
http://androidforums...p-plz-help.html
anyway: if that thread doesn't clear things up for you, just go to the EVO4g-all things root- section and post your problem. there are many many many people there who are ready to help and very knowledgeable. you'll get some help asap.

Your evolution should typically say no PC36DIAG.img. mine does. Reflashing this Ingram while its on your phone whether the bootloader says it is or not can brick your evo

An alternate method to breaking the boot loop that I found:
- Connect the phone to your PC using usb
- Lauch the bootloader (Power + down volume)
- Select HBOOT USB (to activate the USB) & hit the Power Button (should hear the USB connection sound)
- Select Recovery and hit the power button. You should hear the usb connect & disconnect multiple times, ignore this and the error on the computer saying it couldn't load the driver. This should get you into Recovery from where you can get back to fixing your phone.
