I tried to install update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-supersonic-signed.zip and it simply won't work.  Yes, I've done this a few times and I've even put the CM9 alpha on my touchpad...  I don't see anyone else having this problem so I don't really know what to do.

I've downloaded the file twice from http://get.cm, once directly to my phone and once via USB from my laptop.

Went into recovery and selected Install zip from sdcard, chose the RC1 zip file, and only got the following:

-- Installing /sdcard/download/update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-supersonic-signed.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/download/update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-supersonic-signed.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.

Any ideas?

I just downloaded the RC1 file via torrent rather than direct download from get.cm and it installed fine.  Not sure what the difference was, but I had no trouble with the torrented version.

Seeding now...

Rename the file to just update.zip

Whats recovery are you using?  clockworkmod has a issue that I am not sure has been resovled yet with installing zips.  It will fail on almost every zip.  I would strongly suggest using Amon Ra.  Had no problems with it and its been stable.

Also have you been wipeing everything before installing the zip?  A lot of people have had issues when not doing a full wipe.

+ 1 for amon ra. Also it sounds like you had a bad download initially

If you can install Amon Ra and are still having problems I would consider that your SD Card is somehow corrupted and is unable to read the zip.

Just a thought.
