Is ROM manager free/libre and open source?
it's free. There is also a premium version of the ROM Manager. Check it out at Play Market.

free as in free beer? Others have said it ships with CM9-- how can it not be free/libre if it comes with CM?

also, how many weeks until an RC! jk, i know that's an annoying question. but i would like to know how much work is left and if there are any blockers!

Still curious about this!

Also AOSP is getting 4.0.4 now!

Hello,
about 14 days ago I installed the CM9 and I keep updating everytime the new nightly version comes up. I must say it is very stable.
I only have one problem: Since I installed CM9 the camera app won't save any pictures and crashes when attempting to shoot a video. Also when I open an image in Photo Studio, apply any effect and try to save the result I end up with crashed gallery3d. Has anyone been experiencing this issue as well? Any ideas how to get rid of this issue?
Thank you very much.

As far as ROM manager goes,
there is a free version and a premium version on the Play Store.
As far as I am aware it does not come pre installed with CM9. (It didn't for me)
If you are sure that you have the latest ClockworkMod Recovery installed but it keeps saying that you don't;
then tap the settings icon at the top right and select "Manual Flash Override"
I had to use this option as I downloaded the free touch version and flashed it myself.
As far as updating CM9 goes,
I suggest booting into recovery mode by either:
a) booting into fastboot and select Recovery Mode
or
B) selecting Reboot into recovery from ROM manager.
Then install from SD card.
@dfx413
I'd suggest you check the md5 sum of the ROM you have installed, as I haven't had any of the problems that you have been having,
so either your ROM is corrupt, or there are other apps causing the problem(s).
(Or it's other apps AND the ROM, but maybe google your problem in general and see what comes up)
Try uninstalling your other photo/camera/gallery apps and see if the camera then works.

I'm using the xxla2. Pretty good with the latest nightly in Hong Kong.

In the end it turned out there was something wrong with the /sdcard partition:-) Not a problem of ROM at all. Seems like the gallery and camera app could not access the folders with write permissions so that was why the crashes happened. Factory reset did not help, reinstalling apps did not help, different nightlies did not help..:-) After wiping the sdcard partition everything works like a charm:-)

Good to hear.
I'm currently running the 0329 nightly and am having strange problems with the clock.
The clock in the status bar has said 2.13am for almost an hour, the analog clock widget has said 1am for a while.
The lock screen clock seems to be right if you lock the screen and then unlock it again.
just then the status bar changed back to 2am and appears to be working now.
It has just gone 3am and as day light savings has just ended the time is now 2am,
So maybe it was daylight savings and the telstra time server that was causing the problems

@Richard Walsh:
I am also running 0329 and after getting rid of the gallery problem I don't have any other issues. Regarding the clock - I have set my phone to use the clock data provided by my network provider and it works well. I don't use the analog clock widget though.

That was it. No everything works.
Great, thx for this hint.

@jethro I'm currently on stock ICS, and my audio is exactly as you describe too (also when I'm using a running app at the same time as listening to music). Definitely not a Cyanogen-specific problem.

In case anyone is wondering, this is fixed in the latest nightly I tried (20120329) - possibly an Android 4.0.4 thing rather than a CM9 thing but either double-audio is working now.

boot to recovery, wipe cache, wipe data, wipe dalvik cache (under advanced), reboot, and be patient.  first boot after doing this is a lot slower than a normal boot (while it rebuilds the dalvik cache or somehting?)

have you tried hitting the task switch button and then horizontally swiping the browser to close it?  guess you'd have to not be in the browser when doing this (else it wont appear in the list), so maybe hit the home button first.

Has anyone updated to the latest nightly (maguro 4/4/2012)?
I'm getting "SystemUI not installed" and "com.android.settings has stopped" errors.

installed it 6h ago.
Did not more than a bit of chatting. But as you get this error from com.android.settings and i can access and change settings (or did you do something specific, which i just have not encountered yet?) , i think the nightly should be fine.

I did as usual when I update  to the latest:
Nandroid backup
Wipe Dalvik cache
Flash nightly

Once it finished booting and the home screen fully loaded, I pulled down the notifications clicked on settings and got the errors. Maybe it was just a bad install.
I will try again later.

Well then it turns out, that I am lucky, because I forgot to make a backup :P
But I also just wiped dalvik cache.
I open settings the same way and it is working, without any errors.

I did that once and realised while it was installing...my heart stopped until I saw the home screen again :)

Anyway, reinstalled it and now it opened the settings fine.

Just in case I restored the original SystemUI though. I had installed blue soft keys and as that changed the SystemUI file, I wonder if it was the problem (although I've updated before with similar modification and had no problems). Maybe this version didn't like it.
