Has anyone tried GPS? Mine is not working, no matter what settings I change.
I was just wondering if this was a known bug or no one is using Gps anymore..

Cheers! And as always, very nice work CM-Team!!

GPS Fix didn't help either (only started to spam on my home screen)... something's really broken.
What kind of SGS2 do you guys have that it works for you? Please tell exact model number.

I was having issues with GPS as well until I flashed the XXLPQ modem. It's working great now.
You can download and flash it via RomManager: Download ROM -> codeworkx -> LPQ modem

Hi comminus,

Thanks for that idea, I've installed it and it seems to work.
Although in the notification bar the icon for "searching for gps" is still shown, the position is found in maps.
Thanks again

Once GPS has locked the notification bar should not say "searching for gps". Install GPS Status & Toolbox from the marketplace, if your GPS is able to lock this tool will show you. Also, try it outside to make it easier for the GPS to find satellites.

If your phone is not able to lock, you can try updating the /system/etc/sirfgps.conf file on your phone with this one http://dl.dropbox.co...id/sirfgps.conf using adb. If you're not comfortable with using adb, you can load the file with this CWM-flashable zip http://dl.dropbox.co...sfix-signed.zip

I had a problem with the GPS fix as well:
Maps got a fix really quickly, but other apps that use the GPS such as Sports Tracker and Strava took up to fifteen minutes to get a fix.

I saw the hint above to get GPSfix, but that app has Air Push ads and so I wasn't going to touch it. Instead, I got "GPS Status & Toolbox" just like comminus which seems to do the same thing without the notification bar ads.

Now I just run up the GPS status app before starting any other app that need the GPS and I get a fix in less than 30 seconds, even indoors.

Thanks for the hint for GPS Status & Toolbox.
How do I know that my GPS is able to lock? I guess this would be the Fix/Sats. number?
It always says 0/1 in my case.
While I have this app open, the "Searching for GPS" is still active (and stays active) in the notification bar.

If you can confirm me, that this means that my GPS can't lock, I'll give your zip file a try (gpsfix).
Edit: Tried it outside... no luck. It shows 2 satellites but "Fix" is always on 0. At the same time looking at Maps, my location is by far not exact. Looks like my GPS still doesn't run after having flashed the XXLPQ modem.

Sadly same here, tried the XDA AGPS fix package, the sirf config, the XXLPQ modem... Same result the GPS just won't connect - maybe it does in 15mn minutes but it's all the same for me - while it does in less than 15s on CM7 + AGPS fix.

I can't promise that it'll help, but try in the GPS Status & Toolbox app: Menu > Tools > Manage A-GPS state > Download. The app's main screen displays your lat/log once you have a fix. Other apps will usually say "waiting for GPS" or something like that while you don't have a fix.

@minhtam: Nope, didn't help either. No change so far.

@crdb69: Are you also using the SGS2 from Swisscom?
Maybe there has been some change in the Swiss version of the phone. Would seem ridiculous to me but Switzerland is always a case of its own :-/

LPQ modem sorted my GPS fix issues - CoPilot now quickly establishes a fix.

Oddly the GPS Status & Toolbox app still only ever shows 2 satellites and a 0 fix, but it does show positioning information and the GPS status in the notification bar has a solid fill like it has a fix. I've also noticed that while GPS Status & Toolbox app only shows 2 sats in the radar, the sats continually change position and numbers - as if it is seeing multiple sats but only two simultaneously. I think the GPS Status & Toolbox app issues may be a red herring / incorrectly reported.

Hi, do you mind posting the link to the LPQ modem please? I would also like to fix the GPS issue. I don't know much about modems yet and when I try to google it, a bunch of random hits come up. Thanks in advance!
