Anyone else having issues setting up a "Corporate Mail" account with ICS/CM9 Alpha2?  I've tried two different Exchange 2010 servers one with a commercial SSL cert and the other with a self-signed cert with the same result - unable to sync.  Just sits there trying non-stop until I bail.

I'll try another Exchange 2003 and/or 2007 server and report back.

Nope, Exchange 2003 & 2007 with a commercial (Thawte) cert doesn't work either.

Just set mine up and it works fine. Sync mail, contacts, calendar.

Exchange 2007, self signed cert. Exchange recognizes it as:
User Agent: Android.4.0 3-EAS-1.3
Type: Android

Thanks for the feedback.

As you can see, I haven't had any luck with any flavor of Exchange (2003/2007/2010) so far.

Is there anything I can clear (cache) after removing the account to reset it to defaults?  It's not like I can uninstall / re-install the mail client that's native to the O/S.  At least not from what I've noticed / read.

Maybe I'll try wiping the Dalvik cache in CWM but other than that, it's all I can think of.

Not sure how much access you have to the exchange servers but if you look at your account and go to manage mobile devices does it show your touchpad? Also depending on your exchange mobile policy you may need to set a lock screen pin/password before it will allow you to sync.

My Exchange 2010 console shows exactly the same agent  info as yours so that's not it.  I even tried removing the device from my user object.

But I think you may have a point with the PIN / lock policy. Problem is it doesn't look like this CM build includes this functionality. Maybe I missed something so I'll check again.

It does - although I'm not Exchange, I installed all the Notes Traveler applications to get to my corporate email/calader/contacts and it included a policy that made me setup a lock screen and PIN.  The Traveler apk from my company install had a step in it that took me to the setup screens to enter the PIN and modified the policy so I can't disable it etc.

Pin pattern and password lock are in cm9a2 in settings. I am using pattern. I don't have my tp on me but dig around.. it is there. Try that and let us know.

I did find the setting but forgot to post the result that setting a lock screen pattern didn't make a bit of difference. I wish it did.

Does anyone know of a way to remove the mail client and re-add it?

I did find some errors in the Exchange W3Svc logs which I will post shortly.

In the email client settings, highlite your account and then in the right  hand pane scroll to the bottom and select Remove account.

When i had this problem for a CM7 device it turned out it was because the policy required remote wipe, pin lock, SD encryption (well everything encrypted i think) among other things

the reason it works for some is that there is a flag that allows devices that don't fully match the policy to still sync - it just limits what can and can't be done.  I couldn't get work to set that flag so it was not go for me - however there was an app from the market that worked fine - which I assume was missreporting the features of the phone back to the server - not sure.

Thanks for all the replies:

@noseph - I removed the account as you described every time.

@ptekelly - I understand your concern about the policy settings, I've been an Exchange Admin for over 10 years now.  The problem with the argument is that it simply stopped working when I upgraded from CM7/A3.5 to CM9/A2 (and now nightlies).  Furthermore, I've tested it with 5 different clients' Exchange servers from 2003 thru 2010 SP2 all with the same result - I can setup the account (manually), verify the settings, and confirm the security warnings but then it just sits there trying to sync the mailbox indefinately.

It's gotta be something leftover on one of the CM partititons. I just wish I could find it as I'm loathe to wipe everything clean and start all over again - even with tools like Titanium Backup.

My Exchange 2010 setup has worked flawlessly from day 1 on both CM7 and CM9, and my company enforces remote wipe and the security pin features.

When I installed CM7 and CM9 - I did it from a clean boot.  I completely removed the previous versions of CM and installed the latest/greatest.  Just the paranoid part of me that has done End User Computer support as part of my past career life.  Never had any issues.

I don't use Titanium Backup or anything either.  I'm not heavy into the apps on my TP, so it wasn't a big deal for me to dust CM and reinstall.  Since the release of CM9 A2, I've switched to running the nightlies, and Corporate mail continues to work as designed.

I think you're staring down the barrel of a full CM re-install.  Denial or not....that's what it is looking like.

For Corporate Exchange servers, I would highly recommend TouchDown.  I have it for my Droid Charge and HP Touchpad (there is a tablet specific version).  It works very well and supports a lot of the standard corporate requirements such as a pin, remote wipe, etc.  I purchased it for about $20... certainly not inexpensive but has been worth the money!

Here are the entries from the Exchange 2010 server's IIS logs from my recent attempt after upgrading to the most recent nightly (update-cm-9.0.0-tenderloin-20120308-0500-signed.zip):

Can anyone make heads or tales of the error in red besides the obvious?  I've obviously changed the domain name, username, & FQDN to protect the identity of the original to: MYDOM\UserName, my.dom (internal) & mail.myconsulting.com (external).

I begrudingly agree with you, it's looking like there's no other way but a complete wipe to fix this issue. The device is just not as useful to me if the Corporate Mail sync doesn't work. It's way more convenient that using a smartphone to go through the amount of mail I deal with on a daily basis. And it worked flawlessly through many CM7 builds!

Funny thing is, I remember doing a complete wipe of (almost) everything including data/factory reset, cache partition, Dalvik, & Battery Stats -- everything that was in CWM 5.0.2.6!  The only thing I can think of that wasn't wiped before I flashed the CM9/ICS A2 build was formatting the SDCard partition.  Wouldn't you think there would be something on that SDCard (user) partition that is huntable, locateable, & killable to truly "Remove Account"?

Just to 'chime-in' on this issue, we too have a couple of the TouchPad's running CM9/A2/Nightly in our org that are no longer able to sync email due to something being amiss with the Corporate Email sync... I'm also seeing the DeviceNotProvisioned error in our Exchange logs.  We'll be glad to hear when this issue gets fixed.

Hey, I found the fix in another forum... Hopefully this helps you guys who are struggling with it.

OK, I got this one resolved (it might also fix the syncing issue).

1. Delete the Exchange account from Settings->Accounts & Sync
2. Go into Settings->Apps->All->Email and "Clear Data" (you may also want to do this in the Calendar and Contacts apps if you were syncing those)
3. Reboot into Recovery
4. Clear cache partition and Dalvik cache (in the Advanced menu)
5. Reboot into CM9
6. Setup the Exchange account again

Update:

I finally found a little streak of ambition recently so I wiped everything, including formatting the SDCard partition this time, and re-installed CM9/2012-03-08 Nightly including all apps that didn't auto-recover and then...

...it magically started working/syncing again!

The only difference in my process this time is that I didn't stop at only doing the CWM wipe data/factory reset function which apparently only clears the /sdcard/.adroid-secure directory but leaves the rest of the SDCard intact.  After the factory reset I wiped the cache partition (again, even though the previous step said it did it already), wiped the Dalvik & Battery Stats (all as previously tried before) but then I took the one and only extra step of formatting the sdcard partition which seemed to make all the difference in my situation.

I had previously unsuccessfully tried to hunt down and delete this hidden data but could not locate it.

I would be very interested to know if the Clear Data function mentioned in the previous post works for anyone.  I could swear that was one of the first things I tried early on but didn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks again for everyone's input.
