:)   I rooted a sk17i in October with cm7, got the bugs fixed using "
Issues and fixes" Started by sulkie, Oct 11 2011 07:12 PM in these very forums.
Things were going great till January. Got the new update of the cm rom, then my hardware keyboard stopped responding.
<_< So it was touch screen all the way, kinda awkward to type into that tiny screen.
Anyway, I later I tried to install a new rom. B) Using CLOCKWORK RECOVERY, AND GOT STUCK IN THE "FREE XPERIA PROJECT" SPLASH Screen.
I cannot go back because I never took a backup of my rom nor any other kind of backup. :(
I cannot get my phone to start.
Tried flashing it.
Tried rooting it.
Nothing.
I can only boot into Rocovery, where I have an option to choose zip from SD card, wipe cache, etc, etc.
I have done million combinations of wipe cache..etc,etc and other options.
"Install zip from SD card", I've tried all roms, and this is the only log I get:-
assert failed:
getprop("ro.product.device") == "sk17i" ||

..........................Error in /sdcard/update-cm-7.1.0-XperiaMiniPro-SK17i-signed
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Is my phone bricked? If yes, what should I do? :(
If not, please provide links here for a noob like me to get this fixed.

THANKS !!!!!!Posted Image

1. download cm7 from this site
2. boot into recovery
3. hook your phone up to your pc
4. go to mounts and storage
5. click on mount usb storage
6. install the cm7 you downloaded on your sd card
7. wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, then wipe data(unless you dont want delete your apps then dont wipe data)
8. choose your cm7 zip on your sd card.
9. You should be fixed :)

sony ericsson provides an updater (separate from the pc companion), you can try and use that to re-install stock os on your phone. it completely flashes your phone and resets it to factory state. you can then try and root your phone again. the software is available on the sony ericsson website.

One and half month now. Still no reply from moderators. I've started cursing myself for taking the step towards ROOTING AND CYANOGENMOD. It's all good if you do it right. Even one small mistake can screw your phone forever.
Good job guys. Will never visit this site again.

what is your phone doing now and i can walk you through it

- is your phone stuck in cm loading screen?
- will it boot into recovery?
- are you sure your rooted?

and your phone is always fixable unless you have hardware failure

Okay, here's the deal.
I rooted my phone, installed cm7 when it released for sk17i in October 2011.
Then I upgraded the new version on cm7 and it won't boot anymore. It is stuck in the "FREE XPREIA PROJECT" boot screen.
When I press the volume knockers while booting, I can get into recovery mode.
When I select, " Install from SD card, and select the zip file, the installation gets aborted. What should I do man?

First clear dalvik cache in recovery, then wipe your cache partition in recovery(do not wipe data), and lastly flash your cm7 zip file through recovery.

Did exactly that. And got this :-Installing update...assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "SK17i" || getprop("ro.build.product")=="SK17i" || getprop("ro.product.board")== "SK17i" ||       getprop("ro.product.device") == "SK17a" ||getprop("ro.bui;d.product") == "SK17a" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "SK17a" ||      getprop("ro.product.device") == "mango"  ||  getprop("ro.build.product.board") == "mango"E:Error in /sdcard/update-cm-7.1.0.2-XperiaMiniPro-SK17i-signed.zip(Status 7)Installation aborted.

Sony Ericsson has an official RUU(rom upgrade utility). It's self explanatory and shows you step by step. It will restore your phone back to original settings like the day you bought the phone, including losing root. That being said if you want all your apps, then back them up with titanium backup and transfer them to your pc to make sure you dont lose them.
