Bootloop when flashing CM9 and SD Card is in the SGS

Hi folks!
I have one question regarding the problem, that the SGS "bootloops" when flashing CM9 in CWM and a SD-Card is in the SGS. Just curious: Can anyone tell me, why CM9 does not like an the external SD during CWM-flash?
