ok, i traded my mytouch 4g for this g2x, not realizing that the guy i got it from, i guess, tried to root it, and botched the job.

here's what i know.
LG-P999
version 2.3.5
kernel: 2.6.32.45-cyanogenmod
rmcc@giskard #1
rom: cyanogenmod-eagleblood-v2.01
build number: GRJ90

i cannot connect to the pc at all.
when i connect the usb cord, i get nothing at all from the phone, only charges. it doesn't ask me if i want to choose between charging and mass storage, just charges.
windows xp tells me nothing at all anymore, it was just telling me that the device was unknown. my bigger worry is that there isn't even the normal usb connection selection in settings.
what did this guy do? how do i fix it? i just want my phone stock. i can't even get into recovery holding vol-dwn and power. it just shows the box with the android, and reinstalls this crap that's on the phone now. i get no option to pick a rom or anything. i don't have superuser in my appdrawer,
i do have dev tools, file manager, rom manager(which only tells me that i'm not rooted), and the terminal emuloator.

i don't know what to do, and i need some MAJOR help

Ok.  So lets decide what you want to do.  You sound like you might have some rooting experience, so it should be easy to get you through whatever you want to do.  Decide if you want to go back to stock or join the modding community?  I suggest CM7, but that's just me.

First things first.  You are NOT running CM7, you are running Eagle Blood.  Never used it, can't tell you much other than some like it.  But IIRC, and w/o looking, your running an outdated version.  Next thing, whoever messed with your phone did it "wrong" IMO.  The G2x should have CWM installed via NVFlash since there are issues with the recovery partition used by Rom Manager.

As far as USB goes, will get that too.  Check and see if debugging is checked under Development in Application Settings.

Breath, we'll get through this and all the silly acronyms :)

At this point, I'm really just trying to go back to stock. If I want it rooted, I would've rather I did it myself, so I feel confident I did it right.

oh, and i've tried with debugging on and off...no different.
i DID however, just about 30 minutes ago get it to go to the s/w update screen with the battery out...though, i had no idea what to do from there anyway, lol.

Ok, easy enough.down load this http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1056847 and install CWM via NVFlash.  Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.  The drivers were a pain in the rear on my Windows 7 laptop, but eventually got it to work.  Use CWM to either install Froyo from here: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1048274 or Gingerbread from here: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1179748

There are a few stock nandroids or flashable zips around, those are only 2 of them.  So search XDA if you want to find one that doesn't have the root added.  Or just use super 1-click to unroot.

After that you can take CWM off your phone with the same program you used to install it.

You shouldn't have to install the sdk since you're using Nvidia's NVFlash utility.  A quick look at the info I set you up with doesn't show me the sdk is required, but I might have missed it.  If you read that forum I think there maybe answers to the driver issues.  I honestly don't remember what I had to do.

I know I did use the PDA net installer to help get the drivers for ADB to work.

ok. I can't get NvFlash to recognize. The more I look around, I'm realizing that people are having USB problems with Cm7, but they're all having problems with windows not realizing the phone is connected. My phone just charges and didn't have an option anywhere to select storage or charging. Windows acknowledges that there is something there, but doesn't know what to do with it. Like it was left out of the ROM or something

If I'm not mistaken , the link wewoapsiak posted is the best way . I believe you have to install the proper drivers for windows to recognize your phone! Superone click and nvflash will help you with installing the right drivers.  Don't quote me on this as I'm typing what I remember of the top of my head.

Stock? Use smartflash and flash any version and baseband. For me its the most failsafe and easy way.

Follow this link:
http://droidangel.bl...-stock-rom.html

Here you have exactly all info for flashing stock. You dont need SDK or root.

Unless I missed it, this is for the P990 not P999.

Ok...so...my first step is too get the drivers for NvFlash...problem is, when I hold up and down and plug in the cable, I don't get APX device, I get unknown device.
Is there another way to get the drivers installed?

So with battery out, you connect it to your computer while holding the buttons, then you go to devices you don't see an APX device?  I think I also used some extra software for looking at the devices on my laptop, shouldn't be required but I'll look and see if I can find it.

Also, do you have another cord that you can use other than the charging / usb cable with the phone?  I had to use another one for some reason.

Here is a good post / video to get it to work http://www.techofweb...very-g2x.html   maybe you'll see something you're doing wrong.  But I spent the most part of a day getting these stupid drivers to work with windows 7.  I'll give google a try and see if anything refreshes my memory of what I did.

Don't worry I do it all the time too.  The chipsets are the major difference.  Partitions are set up differently, that's why rom manager sucks for the P999.  Also the P999 doesn't have the FM radio wired up for some reason.

I've not really heard of smartflash in the P999 realm, but there are only two different basebands for the P999 and one is just the update to the other.  So it might work, but I didn't see any P999 files in your link.  If someone was to do the wrong thing with a P990 file on a P999, they could screw their partitions up.

WHOOO!!! back to stock!!! i got my hands on another usb cable(oddly, my brother still has a mytouch 4g, he was using an LG cable. lol) so that was the problem. somehow...i don't understand that one. i thought all usb cables were pinned the same. either way, had a md5 issue, then i found another copy of the stock files and d/led it., got into recovery, and flashing it now...**looks at phone** oooh, "restore complete!"
let me check it, and i'll update again
