Major thanks to you developers for breathing new life into this old Epic of ours. I've made it an entire day with absolutely no crashes, freezes or random reboots. I did however update to Alpha 1 and lost the CRT animation. Can anyone else who updated to Alpha 1 confirm this or is just me? Another thing that happened once was a persistent ringing sound while I was on a call. It just sounded like your basic ringtone going off while on a call. Thanks again guys!

This is turning out to be very nice!

Making phone calls force closes for me, but probably because I run my device at MDPI dot pitch. Might get fixed once CM9 rolls out of alpha stage or more people start bugfixing for tablet builds.

Note: The calls still connect, and I can still complete the calls, I just have no UI.

Just gotta wait for a bit more upstream, and I could almost run this as a daily driver!

Does e911 work yet?  Last I checked it didn't, wondering if that is up and running.

OK these are my steps I do. I odin back to stock. Let it go to either EI22 or El30 Ive done both. Flash this custom kernel on so i can make the CWM stick which I put [cwm-5.0.2.7-epic4g.tar.md5] on it. Then I root the stock. Then I shut down my phone then boot into CWM and wipe as QBKING7 did in the video. Then right when i flash it my phone auto reboots into a different CWM and continues the flash of the room and then it auto reboots again and sets at a black screen with just the menu lights on!=( I have no clue what I have done wrong here =/ Please if anyone can please help me id love that. I would post for help on the install video but I already have and no word back....

I just need to know the proper step by step to do this. =/

I have only got the txt msg one time and that is when a new message was left.  I have tried to dail *86 but it says the feature is not available.  Can I install the vmail app from a different or or is there a different way to access my Sprint voicemail.

Thanks and I'm sorry if I'm missing something simple.

The *86 won't work and I haven't been able to get the VVM app to work, it's having issues authenticating the account. as noted previously you can just dial your own number to get to your VM

I had this happen one time, but i ignored a call, just let it ring until it went to voicemail.  After that it continued to ring (5+ minutes) very low volume with nothing else running, i had to hold it to my ear to confirm it was the phone.  Once i made another call out, it stopped, and i have not been able to repeat it.

Seems like your right on the money but the only thing different i did was flash cm7 rc0 with wimax so the conversion to mtd from bml takes place. I didnt flash cm9 right off the bat. I was on EI22 and wanted to upgrade to EL30 OTA from sprint. So i odined back to ec05<put the files i needed (ACS recovery5-1.0.0.0 & su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip) on sd card as per qbkings77 tutorial video<waited...updated to EL30 OTA<flash the kernel via odin(make sure you put the file under the pda box in odin and auto reboot is checked only)<Place the ACSRecovery1.0.0.5.tar.md5 under the pda box via odin flash it (auto reboot checked only)<power off and boot into CWM<install the su.zip<reboot system<power off and reboot to CWM and update CWM to ACS recover5...<reboot into CWM and flash cm7 rc0 with wimax. From here you can either flash the latest nightly to get all the latest changes and the flash cm9 but you shouldnt have to or just flash cm9 from cm7 rc0 with wimax. Since you are already converted to mtd format the install process from cm9 should go smooth.

Hello and THANK YOU! Having ICS on my Epic 4G is a dream! My son has a Epic Touch and is actually jealous :-)

To anyone having VVM problems - I downloaded PhoneFusion Voicemail + from the market and it installed and set up without a problem. A very nice replacement for the Sprint VVM.

I have also had a bad time with the email app.  gmail works great, but the stock email app crashes while starting 3 out of 4 times i start it up.  It will eventually open it up and i can create or reply to messages, but it crashes while i start either of those steps about half the time.

I haven't seen any other notes on this yet, so this may be a problem with my install, i am on alpha-1, had alpha-0, came from CM7 (cant remember which nightly).  I am on EI22, and plan on "redoing" everything this weekend, to see if it helps and move to EL30.  Other than that i am running as a daily driver and between the last three days i would bet i only had 2 times i had to reboot.  Really an amazing job so far.

Thanks for the update,  the only problem I seem to have to auto-rotate and Data Roaming not working at all.

Btw, are there any logs that I can post to help debug?

I am having an issue with my exchange account in CM9 on Epic 4G.  When I attempt to add my activesync account - I was presented with the following error:

NO CERTIFICATES FOUND
"The application exchange services has requested a certificate.  selecting a certificate will grant the application the ability to use this identity with servers now and in the future.  You can install certifiable from a PKCS#12 file with a PFX or a .p12 extension located in external storage.

OH WHAT THE FORK?  Forget it ... I went back in and IGNORED it somehow and hit NEXT and it actually worked.  That was wierd though ...  I should just fricken delete this .. but, I dunno.  I'm not going to.

ITS FIXED.  THANKS.

Recently while on CM7 VVM stopped working. Which is odd since it was working for me on CM7 through many nightly updates even with the initial test after ugrading to the last nightly I had updated to. But after that initial test it no longer worked. It was as if the app wasn't installed. Should I go through the hassle of going back to EC05 so that it can OTA to the latest EL30 and use VVM to confirm it working and then back it up with mybackup and titanium backup? Finally using either of those to restore it on CM9. Before I was just using titanium backup and thought perhaps something crazy may be going on with it that caused VVM to fail after the test on CM7.

Is the ability to create folders on the desktop going to be integrated into CM9?  I used them in CM7 and noticed that option was gone when i long press the background, is there another method to do it may be a better question to ask as well.

yes you can create folders, just hover the app shortcut over another and it will group them together in a "folder"

Is it required/recommended that we do the full wipe going from alpha 0 to alpha 1?

Yes on all alpha builds i would strongly recomened full wipe and fresh install though you may not have to its always best some release have more done in them then others so you really never know better to be safe then sorry.

Yes, they wouldn't release publicly without it. Since, the bug was first discovered with the original builds.

On the auto rotate make sure the feature is checked on under launcher settings and display settings.

Overall, Alpha 1 is still running great, but unfortunately it seems to have the same WiFi problem stock Gingerbread has, http://code.google.c...detail?id=15631 It does not remember Phase 2 Authentication settings. You would think Google would have fixed this in the stock ICS. The issue was fixed on CM7 on my Evo 4G, so hopefully this will be fixed in one of the upcoming alpha releases.
