New user to CyanogenMod, after running several other custom ROM's, and loving it. One issue I need help with, I can't seem to disable the sound notifier for e-mails, from a company Microsoft Exchange synced account. Things I've tried:

Within the e-mail app, Account Settings / Email Notifications checked for notify in status bar when email arrives (this I do want) / Select Ringtone ----- Silent is checked. No vibrate. I still get an audible notifier on new e-mails.

Within Settings / Profiles / Default selected / touch Default to configure profile / Application Groups ------ have tried selecting Email and various settings for Notification Mode; No Override, Override On, Override Off. Still get the sound notifier for incoming E-mail. If I select Override On and select Notification Tone, there is no selection in the list for Silent, so that doesn't seem to help.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

(CyanogenMod 7.1.0 Supersonic, latest stable release, on an HTC EVO 4G.)

Follow-up by original poster ----- baling out on the CyanogenMod ROM. Very disappointed since it's touted to be the flagship custom ROM out there. Upside was speed and ability to overclock the kernel a bit, it definitely was a little faster. Downside is the issue I posted about, which just shouldn't be that difficult to solve, work around, whatever. Also discovered that acquiring satellite fixes when GPS is switched on was much, much slower with this ROM and when using various navigation and GPS apps. For me a smartphone is a tool, a very neat tool that does amazing things, but a tool nevertheless. I want it to work as designed without having to futz around with it for hours on end.

For anyone reading this and interested, I've found the MikG ROMS to be the absolute best, after trying numerous ones, and I'm back to running that. A perfect blend of speed, stability, everything working well and with zero issues, force closes, weird glitches, or anything else. It just works very well. Plus I happen to like the HTC Sense interface and slew of great widgets available that MikG ROM's are based on. Not a big fan of ADW Launcher. Also was dearly missing an app named Missed Reminders for periodic sound notification of missed calls, SMS, Gmail, etc., that works great on a MikG ROM but won't run on CyanogenMod. There are other apps on the Market for this, but they're not nearly as good.

Go here if interested in MikG, the MikMik forum and location for ROM downloads. Also note that there aren't nearly as many forum postings for serious device issues and calls for help that there are with CyanogenMod.
