The Official Fix your TouchPad ( 8-12% stopped, No SD, Opps reformat, $&^#!@&# crap....) thread.

I feel the pain going through the internet with regards to our Touchpad and stalling with the latest SW.
Credit where credit is due, you can see a list in the DL suite.
I decided to make a file suite to make this easier.
Download the Suite here: http://www.multiupload.com/9SLRPWIX5J
Download WebOS Doctor here: http://ws.hpwebos.com/webosdoctor
If your file system stops getting recognized by the Computer while in Android or WebOS, you are still messed up either way. You will have to do this eventually. Your data will go away, but that's why you backup...
1st Method (No SD card):
1. Back-up using Clockwork mod and export using Wifi or Bluetooth to your computer.
2. Moboot back into WebOS Settings -> Device Info -> Reset Options -> Full Wipe
3. After the Wipe, Run WebOS Doctor.
2nd Method (8-12%):
1. Download the suite above
2. Install the Novacom Universal Drivers.
3. Move the Novaterm.exe and the TerminalControl.dll to C:\Program files (x86)\HP WebOS\SDK\bin after installing the novacom drivers.
4. Put the TP in Recovery mode (holding down power and vol+ at power-up)
5. Run WebOS Doctor and wait for it to stall at 12%
6. Open your command window and cd to the folder location of the ACMEInstaller
7. Run this in the command window: novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller
8. When you see the ACMEInstaller stall and say that LVM failed, reboot by holding down power and home (the installer will force re-partition your device so webOS doc knows its not OK)
9. Boot back into recovery mode
10. Boot up WebOS Doctor and wait for the stall.
11. Open the command window again back to where the ACMEInstaller and other files are.
12. Run " novacom boot mem:// < nova-installer-image-topaz.uImage "
13. Once it reboots, put back into recovery mode.
14. For windows users: run command "novacom -t open tty://" *Now you are in the root!* Others just use "novaterm".
15. Run each of these commands individually: "lvm.static vgscan --ignorelockingfailure" ,"lvm.static vgchange -ay --ignorelockingfailure", and "mkdosfs -f 1 -s 64 /dev/store/media"
*IF YOUR DEVICE DYING AT 8%, You may want to use the fix_dos_fs.sh built in to completely repartition and reformat the disk before using the "mkdosfs" command. *
16. Reboot the device into recovery mode and Start up WebOS doctor and watch it work!
*If your device is still having trouble connecting over USB,but boots...RUN METHOD 1. That should fix it.*
ALSO POSTED ARE SEVERAL METHODS BY JSCULLINS (moboot guy - awesome) FOR IF YOUR SD CARD AND INTERNAL PARTITIONS ARE SEEN, BUT JUST ACTING UP.

Say Thanks if this helped you!

You can fix this pretty easy by just waiting after you turn on wifi and try to forget the network its trying to connect to. Then, try to connect to another network (even though you may not know the PW) and just cancel. Then turn off wifi and turn it on again. Connect to your network. Generally that solves it for me. You can also try restarting ADW and then clearing your cache, then restarting ADW - seemed to work 75% of the time for me.

I un-installed all palm software, reinstalled webos SDK then moved novacom.exe terminalcontroll.dll to folder. However every time I plug in my HP it wont find the Palm driver.
NO white USB icon on TP, I cannot make anything show on the screen..also no storage access

If it shows that you have actually hooked up the official charger onto the touchpad, YOU HAVE HOPE. That means that teh very base parts of the firmware are working and that it recognizes USB!
Charge it overnight. Then, try putting the TP into recovery mode (ONLY AFTER FULLY CHARGED) if you screwed your battery meter code... it will still hold on long enough to fix it.
Once in the Recovery, plug it into your computer in a NEW USB port or a new computer. That will force the drivers to re-install (USE THE UNIVERSAL DRIVERS IN THE FILE PACK!) .
Otherwise: TRY THIS ONLY AS A LAST RESORT!

I have had it work fine on Ultimate, Home Pro, and Enterprise editions. When you hook up the device, I would open your device manager. Look for the device hooked up and right click to get properties. Then, click find/update driver. Let it search the web. It should have been doing this for you automatically if you have any of the versions I listed above, but the universal ones work a bit better and fix palm issues with some things. You can manually add the driver to the device in the same way as above, just having it browse through your computer for the file.
I would also try and see if someone has a Linux machine that they will let you use. You can grab the novacom and novaterm to do this VERY EASILY. Windows is not required to do anything with CM7 on Touchpad.

Run it exactly as I said in the instructions.
RUN THE NOVACOM AND ACMEINSTALLER from the downloadable folder that I included above. Use the "cd" command combined with the filepath in your command console.
Also, uninstall the SDK drivers, they DON'T ALWAYS WORK (especially when your device might be segmented). The universal ones do though!
Please, try it verbatim the way that I posted here. There is a very good reason why I included things the way that they are. Judging by the crazy amount of people who have downloaded this package and how few people have said that they found issues... I assume it works. Yeah, for reference, there are well over a hundred people who have downloaded this package alone. There are probably people who already had the other stuff and ran it as well.

I have had my touchpad since the firesale. I use it sparingly but agree with most users that it is lacking in apps, gizmos and other widgets. It's a great travel item with it's ability to play movies, media and games. I would like to install the android mod on my touchpad, but lack the necessary know how to do it. i downloaded the nightly mod for it (tonight obvioiusly), but due to my primative computer skills find myself with a file folder with no executable file. I would love to remedy this. or maybe i am asking for too much. Is there an all inclusive download that does all the modifications for me? To most of you i am that fire and forget type, that one appreciates the work you all have done to create these files, but doesnt know how you did nor, really wants to know due to fear of confusion on an unfamiliar subject. Any such modification or sinlge click program would be great for those of that are not so saavy on the computer mod side of the world.
I tried one of those step by step mod sites, and well it failed. operator headspace and timing most likely, but in the end it's still not android, and i still dont know where i went wrong.
Thanks,
Nick

Nick i pretty much felt the same way when i first started modding devices...in short, i'd say there is no one click sure fire way to get it done, it takes research and tenacity. There is something to be said about the nature of modding, which is evident in the blood, sweat, and tears of developers, that makes rooting and modding the devices so satisfying; that it was successful, because there is always that question while pushing the *go* button, once you're ready... "will it work - will it break?" ... and all your research paid off and the device works because YOU made it work
That being said... the first topic in this forum:http://forum.cyanoge...f-lilputingcom/ has a pretty good detailed list of instructions that you may find useful... but i would strongly suggest reading a lot of the (currently meaningless to you) banter over the subjects, so that you are familiarized with the process... it will pay off, and you will like Android ICS so much better than webOS, i'm sure of it.

"For anybody out there that needs the fix for getting the drive to recognize in windows, the way to resolve is below. This is to get past the mkfs.msdos message you receive about it being a mounted file system. You first have to unmount the device, run the command, mount and reboot.
Ensure the TP is in Developer Mode. Connect the TP to the computer using the usb cable but don't enter USB Mode on the TP. On your computer, Open Novaterm and enter the four commands below (on mine, I was able to open novaterm by going to C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc\Terminal\ and double clicking Novaterm.bat. If opening that way, you'll have to click File->Connect in the Novaterm window. A window will launch asking you to confirm the TP device. Just click OK.. If you've done it correctly, you should be at a command prompt showing root@Touchpadname: / #):
Quote: umount /dev/mapper/store-media
mkfs.msdos /dev/mapper/store-media
mount /dev/mapper/store-media
reboot
It will take between 5-10 minutes for the TP to reboot, so don't panic at the longer reboot. You'll notice that the HP logo will start the standard brightening/dimming on the screen. When it comes back up, you will be able to enter USB mode on your TP and browse the drive using windows.

some pointers: be very careful about installing the right files on the touchpad and typing the exact letters and spaces in terminal/dos. I've run into trouble with that before.
