I'm trying to install the current nightly build from here, and I must be doing something wrong. The instructions say to "Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card." I can't find an update.zip file anywhere, so I renamed the nightly build from cm_shadow_full-154.zip to update.zip and put it on the root of my SD card. That doesn't seem to work, though; when I reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery and tell it to apply update.zip, it says:

Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: run_program("/tmp/check_kernel") == 0
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I gather that this means the installer didn't find a file it was expecting in update.zip; the probable cause is that I have the wrong file. Where can I find the update.zip file for a current Droid X nightly build?

Don't rename the zip. This is what I did and it worked no problems.

1. sbf to .340
2. rooted with z4
3. installed DROID 2 BOOTSTRAP (not droid x)
4. Clicked bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery
5. in ClockworkMod recovery go to install zip from sdcard(NOT UPDATE.ZIP)
6. Find where you saved the nightly zip file and install

I also wiped all the data and cache before rebooting

I think that step is the key. I've had the same issue in the past.

Have never had this issue until trying to install 7.2 on my wife's Droid X today. I really don't want to go through the grumpy wife having to deal with me taking her phone and reinstalling everything again after an sbf.

Is 7.2 worth it going from 7.1 and no complaints from her? Loving my Galaxy Nexus too much to waste more time than I have to on a Motorola.
