What is the best way to root the 3D?

if you got hboot 1.3 or 1.4 (highly unlikely now new) use revolutionary

if you got hboot 1.5 you'll have to use HTC's unlock and search for instructions on how to install CM and a recovery menu

Depending on your level of knowledge, you CAN downgrade your hboot!

I'd personally wait for it to be harnessed and exploited (IOW, revolutionary or similar)... I don't trust doing battery pulls while doing upgrades, you could brick it.

And for the record, no homo, but you don't look too bad. you're not ugly.

It's DEFINTILEY not for the faint of heart, because the point of the thread IS TO BRICK your phone, but if done correctley, it can lead to hboot 1.4

Revolutionary stated that they WILL NOT pursue hboot 1.5 since HTC ALREADY gives the user an option to "unlock" their device.

So either stick with hboot 1.5 forever (and hboot 1.6 when the ICS update comes out), or revert back to 1.4!

never said it had to be Revolutionary, just a tool similar to it, or if you or me or someone here or whatever coded such a tool/exploit from scratch..

At this point that's if it comes out at all... it's almost April and there's been a lack of news on ICS for the Evo 3D... at this point it seems like ICS is like the Lochness Monster or something, but hopefully someone can prove me wrong.

I'm not concerned about the Ice Cream Sandwich update! Because it will just contain a new version of Sense on top of beautiful Ice Cream Sandwich. Besides, I have Ice Cream Sandwich on my EVO3D right now!

Thanks for all the suggestions.....I bought my 3D at Best Buy and it only had the 3.0 bootloader on it, so Revolutionary worked perfectly......After flashing CM7 though, I noticed that my camera is now only a 2d camera.......is there a way to make it 3D again?

I followed this to a T until it came to installing CM7......I just downloaded the Zip from this site and put it on my sd card then went into bootloader and "instal zip from sd card" and then picked the zip file.......this is the same way I put google apps back on with its Zip file.

You may want to thumb through the CM7 known issues sticky, which covers CM7 and that CM9 beta.. as of right now 3D isn't working with either CM version, and according to Josh's findings (that youtube video of his) right now the camera in CM9 is broke to high hell anyway

Good to know man....thanks....I love CMs ROM so much I don't think the 3D is worth going back on or switching to another ROM....That is the only problem I have with it, and I do believe I can live with it
