Me too. Would be nice.
Speaking of keyboards, after my install of CM7.2 RC2, the keyboard didn't work at all. I had to go into settings and specify the keyboard layout, then it worked. Putting this here in case someone else runs into that.

Hi, for any developers etc here, I just wanted to say that this post lead me to decide not to install cyangoen.
I am a free software campaigner and a fellow of fsfe (who run the free your android campaign!). I am an ideal candidate for a cyanogen instalation, and I could have invested time and energy into promoting this and helping others. I have even been offerd training by fsfe to run installation workshops with less tenchical people...
However, as a non-technical user, there is just no way I am going to get involved in a distribution which has faults this basic... and then does not offer help.
This post was active from november, these people have taken a risk to install cyanogen and have put their trust in the statement that the phone model has a stable release.... which it clearly does not! Keyboard backlight is a basic and neccisary function. It's bad enough that there would be an issue with this - perhaps its an issue only affecting a frew people with specific model numbers... but that not one single person had steped in to help? This is unacceptable to me, so for now, I am not going to get involved.
Sorry to be so rude, but my time is precious to me, and if a community is not functioning proplery, I know that I don't have the skills to fix it.

^^ Well said, I've been watching this forum for a while and I'm so disappointed by the lack of activity. Someone less sceptical than myself might have just downloaded the ROM and installed it straight away since it's "stable" but I'm glad I checked the forums first.
It's sad because the mini pro is such a inexpensive and capable little phone - if it just had a little more support from the modding community it could be amazing

Well you could use the "experimental" version.
in CM9, the Keyboard is fully functionnal (Backlight, change the layout within the menu, Blue and Sym key functionnal, etc...) now.
I have to admit I have not looked at the CM7, but maybe it's ok now (I do not know how much it's linked with the CM9 version).
Ghuntar.

I recommend that you just try out either CM7 or CM9 and see if they do what you need. If they don't, then presumably you can just put stock Android back on and you've only lost an hour or two.
it is indeed annoying that CM7 is marked as stable for this device even though this obvious bug exists. A quick search on the Cyanogen bug tracker didn't find any reports of this bug however - it's possible that it hasn't been reported. If so, it may explain why there has been little progress with the problem on CM7. As Ghuntar says however, it has been fixed in CM9.

You could try the FreeXperia ROM. It's the base for CM9, but it's a weekly build. ==> http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1445821
For me everything is OK with this ROM. There is only one addition you need, it's a patch for FM radio that you can find there : (the file is : CM9 FXP138+ FM radio) ==> http://www.faircode.eu/freexperia/ it 's made by the user M66Bof the xda forum.
