I recently Installed CM 7.1 on my Incredible 1 last night and today I have noticed that I have not had 3G or 1X for most of the day. Also I tried to toggle the Mobile Data in the notification bar and the phone went through a random reboot. Since the reboot, the home button does not take me home and the search button will not pull up the search menu. Both buttons cause the haptic feedback to engage, making the phone vibrate, but nothing happens. I can 't even hold the home button to pull up recent apps, please help.

This has recently happened to me as well. I don't remember the exact sequence, but I had a random reboot, and then a ton of force close errors, and then my home/search buttons no longer worked. Button presses issue haptic feedback, but don't actually do anything.
I was on a previous version of CM7, so I upgraded to 7.1 and the issue still remains. I've seen other posts on this and other forums indicating that an app called no-lock could be the culprit, but I don't have that app. Fixing permissions hasn't helped. I do run GO Launcher, but that's the only thing I could think would interfere, and I've uninstalled that and reinstalled to no avail.
Also, with CM7.1 I've noticed that on long-press of power, I no longer have the options to go into airplane mode. I'm pretty sure that was there in CM7.0.1, but I could be wrong. Was that removed?
No longer having home/search buttons are real bummers. And long press on home which usually brought up the recently used apps doesn't work either. Sigh.

When you installed CM7 for the first time, did you wipe system?

The first time I installed CM7, yes, I did a complete wipe, dalvik, etc. I never had issues with the home/search buttons until the other day when I had a spontaneous reboot. When I updated to CM7.1 after the issue started, I didn't do a full wipe, but did clear dalvik and fixed permissions after.
Are there any apps out there that can identify what is happening when a hardware button is pressed? I feel like something is interrupting the normal behavior of the buttons.
EDIT: Well, I discovered another problem. Incoming calls go directly to voice mail without ringing. All settings are correct. That was a dealbreaker, so I wiped and reinstalled CM7.1 and everything looks okay. The home/search buttons are working, and incoming calls are ringing. I'm not sure why that rogue reboot caused things to go pear-shaped, but I guess the lesson is... wipe and flash, early and often!
