I would wait for a at least release candidate which comes before the official release of a piece of software because then you can make sure that everything is working and that there address no issues like we have right now. Especially for someone who's new to Android

I agree. I came from the TMO Vibrant and learned most of what I know from the CM team and the guys over on XDA. On a few occasions I actually soft-bricked that phone and even had a warranty replacement for hardware failure. It wasn't a pretty learning curve on that phone. I'd stick with what's safe till you get  your feet wet and are very comfortable with using Odin and flashing your phone and you'll be fine. One thing I did before I did anything to my T989 was contacted TMO to get the unlock code since I am in the UK and AU a lot.

Just picked up a Tmo GS2. Currently using the build found over at XDA. Works quite well for me. No problems so far. Can't wait for an official port

We're a bit closer to having ICS. Sammy leaked a couple roms for the intl SGSII which means the variant versions aren't far behind. Maybe the rumors of early Q1 will be fulfilled.

This issue exists in the stock ROM itself when using 3rd party SMS apps. When using the stock messaging app to send MMS messages, the images are in proper orientation. I've done this comparison several times with the same results. All 3rd party apps send images rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise, yet no images are rotated when using the stock messaging app. I would suspect TouchWiz to be the culprit behind that issue.

Looking forwardly to CM7/CM9 on this great phone. Coming from community suported Maemo-linux powered N900 and CM-dified HP Touchpad can't wait for CM on T-mo SGSII. Will probably flash available alfa and keep my N900 close as a backup. Currently my SGH-T989 is rooted and debloated with Freeze! option in Titanium Backup Pro. Touchwiz is replaced with ADW Launcher.

I also request a Cyanogen mod for the version of the phone. It's a highend phone that need your help.

I'm currently running the CM7 from over at XDA (http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1363289) and overall it's very good, stable and fast.  The NFC isn't working, and I've  heard of a couple bugs that I've not experienced.

I continue to eagerly await any update to CM7 on the SGH-T989, or CM9 for it.

Thanks to all the devs and testers doing the good work!

Come on guys, I am rooted, debloated [just delete the apks after backing them up who needs to freeze crap whether it is frozen or not it needs not to be on my phone :-p on OEM bloatware.]

and even running Bullet's custom Kernel so I am running newest 2.3.6 OTA Samsung did, but still have USB Host ability [I can connect USB drives via the miniusb port on bottom of phone [why would Samsung hose this it is one of the many bright spots this phone has ah well OEM epic fails and Hackers prevail!]

The ONLY thing left is to shelve this OEM ROM as backup and install CyanogenMOD! I have heard Samsung states our phone should see ICS via OTA sometime early this year [2012] while I got caught in the Moto Cliq XT debacle so I am not holding my breath one can hope I guess.  So if Samsung can do it I know Cyanogen should have it done ahead of time and better!!

Thanks again as always guys and I look forward to finding someone like Turl to work with on a custimized CM7 and/or 9 for the Samsung Galaxy S2 as I did with the Cliq XT wirk!

there are devs working on it. Even cyanogen himself has a T989 maybe we'll see support for this phone from him.

Are we sure he has the T989? I only ask because theres no section for it in the Samsung section. I'd imagine cyanogen would have a section for his phone, if he was working on it.

Either way. Do we have any updates at all besides for our phone yet?

he actually posted a photo of the T989 on Google+, but that doesn't mean anything.
But good news. Eugene a well known dev wants to make it's way to the SG S2 T989 as soon as he gets enough donations to buy a phone.

LET'S GET SOME DONATIONS TOGETHER.
if you decide to donate please do it here. --> http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1461399
He's a really hardworking badass developer, it's worth it, also because we don't officially have any other devs who are working on this phone.
