Signal strenght indicator goes grey (inactive?)

7.0.3 stable

So, it just turns grey with small cross at the left top. So no calls can be made neither received.
That happens by itself, all of sudden.
How do I diagnose where the bug comes from?

That icon definitely means you don't have a signal. I can confirm that.

But why does it drop it? After reboot the signal appears.
