Yup, I have the same problem. The Automatic Push option is missing for the Gmail account, I can only setup to sync my email at a particular time interval.
However I have 2 email accounts, one Exchange and my Gmail account. Curiously enough, the Exchange account still has the Automatic Push option. I install the Gmail app and that is also pushing the email. So, perhaps there is something wrong with Email.apk.

Having the same problem (T-Mobile G2x) Email doesn't push to phone I have to do a manual refresh. I've cleared the data with the app manager but that doesn't seem to work either.

Same problem with Gmail, have to manually refresh to get emails. I've tried clearing the data and cache but that didn't fix it.

okay, after browsing the forums, i found something that fixed it for me. and made me feel like a total spaz, i hope it helps. I just went to Settings -> accounts then click on your google account, (not the sync icon, the google icon) and check which services to sync.
