I was looking around on ebay for some batteries and came upon this http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item2eb6508295

From the looks of it, it seems better than the 1800mah mugen one that most people have. Why I think that is because it's made in Japan and not China.

I'm seriously considering buying this battery. What do you guys think? It's cheaper than the mugen one and might even be better.

That's always a red flag in my book!

Edit: I just received it in the mail today. I fully charged it and calibrated the battery. Interested to see how well it works tomorrow at work.

Batteries are a BAD place to try and find obscure deals. Stick with well-known companies and well-known dealers. Otherwise 9 times out of 10 you are paying for a lemon that may even damage your phone.

No reviews for the desire z though.  That's a little interesting.  Maybe it's because everyone saw the reviews for all the other batteries getting sold.  I really wish I could get a 2430mAh battery that's the same size as the stock battery.  I really dislike the added bulk...

Yea got mine in the mail the other day and after a 48 hr test with it. I can tell you its a flop. The battery is no better than the stock. With in an hour of lite use it was already down to 80% mind you this after i charged it up for a good 8hrs. Also the phone randomly shut off on twice. Idk if that had anything to do with the battery but it was strange. Also it will not allow the phone to read the temp. It was stuck at 77 degrees the whole time room temp here is higher than that.. This was confirmed with the temp reading on Set-CPU and going into spare parts> battery information. Put in the original battery and temp was reading fine. So my conclusion is, dont buy this battery. Ill be using the stock one but ill keep this one handy as a back up if i dont have a charger.

That's good to know, I hadn't really thought about that, and I've been thinking about buying the 1800mah Mugen battery. Does anybody know which kernels would support that? (I take it from this post that the CM kernel doesn't?)

Heh, that battery is no better than stock. With a plastic gold wrapper. kernel doesnt matter. just need to remove the batterystats.bin to recalibrate a new battery.   I got myself an actual 2500mAh battery from ebay for 11$ I know I get what I paid for, but it actually lasts 2.-5 times longer than the stock 1150mAh battery. Also adds weight and thickness to the device.
