Is this rom abandoned? It would be a shame. Maybe I'll at least flash it in its current state just to have a look, but the lack of a main camera is really a non-starter for me.

Tom G's work in CM6.1 was really good. It's only got a few little bugs and no front-facing camera, but it's very usable as a day-to-day rom. If anyone with the requisite skills to solve the last few issues is interested, please do us all a big favor and at least get CM6.1's final bugs fixed. I'm afraid with the current state of affairs that CM7 is not going to reach that same level, even though it has been officially accepted by the CM team.

If anyone is interested, here's a link that explains the remaining bugs with Tom's CM6.1 port (and I'll quote the pertinent section below):
http://android.modac...-modifications/

Known problems/bugs:
  • The wifi reconnection bug is also present in this rom. "Blade Wifi Fix" has been installed to help reduce the problem.
  • Front facing camera does not work.
  • The GPS icon remains in the notification area even after GPS is turned off. Ignore it, or reboot to remove it.
  • The Camera app included in this rom has been modified by user anegin and does not crash. However, with most camera apps, attempting to take multiple pictures at 3mp resolution will crash the camera app and then cause a serious battery drain (until reboot). There are some other camera apps available on the Market that also do not have this bug (reportedly the paid version of Vignette works).
  • The MAC address bug is also present in this rom. "Set MAC address" has been installed in this rom to solve that problem.
  • Some people have reported a bug in which the auto-rotation gets stuck.

I heard Ice Cream Sandwich is coming out in a bit. Would be great if we would have an official cyanogen mod past the experimental stage before that :)
I'd be happy with only working cameras and the current rom, too!

Ok, so there still is hope. That's good. :)

I was messing around with boot.img's the other day and I found that Tom's boot.img for CM7 and CM6 have a cpu sampling_rate of 20000. In all other ways the cpu settings are stock Huawei U8220, but not that one. Huawei sets it at 200000, ten times the rate Tom is using. So I became curious both about what the sampling_rate does and about whether or not Tom did that purposefully or if it was a typo. Anyway, if Tom ever sees this or someone who knows what that is all about can offer information, I'd love to know.

Edit: A bit more investigation led me to an XDA discussion of sampling rate. For what it's worth, the conclusion seemed to be that the lower the sampling rate the more often the governor polls for updates, and the higher the number the less often it polls. The conclusion was then that the higher number would result in slight battery savings but slightly slower response to the cpu load changing. But, hey, the guys discussing it were just taking their best shot at understanding, so who knows?

Just wanted to say that there are still lots of people waiting for a newer version (maybe even stable!) of this rom. Don't give up on this dear developers!

Hi Arlindo... last night I merged the
update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-U8220-signed.zip
over the base
CM_7.1.0_RC1_u8220_signed.zip

I zipped it all againd and transfered to sd card. ROM Manager did the rest.
I have my providers network assigned and it's a phone again finally  Posted Image

There's other things to fine-tune like recognizing properly the phone model etc... and camera, that's the catch!
I feel it is fast if you can live without annoying animations (I do)

Hugz... e um abraço Posted Image

Hi everybody,

on android@modaco is a "kernel 2.6.32" post .....
here is the link

Is this a step in the right direction or just a "cosmetic" thing?

pier11 is trying to get the kernel 2.6.32 (from huawei U8150) working on the U82[2/3]0... and it looks promissing! :)
