Given the recent explosion of nightly users, I understand your need for a place to discuss them, and/or ask if other users are having similar issues as you...this is that place

  • DO NOT: Post to the bug tracker
  • DO NOT: Open another thread (I will enforce this with temp bans)
  • DO NOT: Think of this as official forum support; this thread will be strictly user to user support. Don't expect CM-dev help.
** These CyanogenMod builds are highly experimental and unsupported.
**
** Please refrain from submitting bug reports for any issues
** you may encounter while running one of these builds.
**
** Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
** cause of male impotence.

Ok, sorry I am new here! Please let me know if I am doing something I shouldn't. I am assuming I can post questions about issues I encounter?

I somehow seem to have lost superuser privileges even after trying a couple different nightly builds. Any idea how I can get su installed again? It could be the fact that I just installed the package over the previous cyanogenmod build. I'll try wiping data and see what happens.

I lost root when I installed the v3 nightly as well. Installed through rom manager, didn't wipe data/cache.

Good to know. I really don't feel like wiping and reinstalling at this time. I have restored to my pre-nightly builds and regained root. So if anyone can show some way of keeping root, I will try again

Also, Im not entirely sure how nightlies are supposed to work. Are these designed to flash over the previous pre-nightly CM build?

BTW, I have tried nightly v2 with the same results

I restored my backup and got root back as well. I'm not sure how they work since this is my first experience....I imagine you could install without wiping.

Hopefully someone can clarify. Also, I didn't notice any difference between nightly 3 and pre-nightly. Camera still failed. idk about GPS. Auto brightness also still didn't work. Do you know of any changes?

There is a GPS fix for the original release that's at Android Forums. I've tested it and it works.

I too noticed that i lost superuser abilities when i installed the latest nightly. I managed to get it back though by manually installing the latest su binary.

Click this link -> http://goo-inside.me...-bin-signed.zip and place that in the root of your sd card. You should still be able to boot into recovery by holding the power button, selecting reboot, then recovery. Once you get to the recovery screen choose install zip from sdcard then choose zip from sdcard. Find the su binary you just downloaded and hit the camera button then scroll down to yes and hit the camera button again. When its done installing reboot and voila you should have full superuser abilities back. Not sure it that'll work for everyone but it worked out for me.

Thanks for the tip! Though is there a reason for me to take the current nightly? I didn't really see a fix for camera which I would really enjoy. GPS, i might try fixing later with that other tip someone posted :)

I think there are a few different camera apps that will work until there is a nightly released that addresses this issue. From what i understand Camera Illusion works along with a few others. I personally tried the gps fixes i found on a few different forums and none of them worked out for me, but its more than likely just operator error  :P

both fast burst and camera illusions are work arounds for the camera problem.  from what i have seen on other forums gps navigation is fixed, but not location.  I'm still on the original beta with the gps fix which is working fine for me.  Also if you take the nightly make sure you update your GAPPS file as well.  If you flash the nightly, then super user then gapps you can reboot it all at one time and avoid rebooting 3 times and not "lose" root.

cvpcs made an excellent blog post about what "nightlies" are, and I would highly recommend for everyone to read it:

What's the difference between the current nightly and pre-nightly? Sorry, but this hasn't been answered yet :P

EDIT: Nevermind! Excellent post by pCarson92 in the forums with a changelog site! I think I might give the next nightly a shot due to the amount of changes

I don't know the policies on linking to another forum, but for those of you like me who haven't payed for ROM manager and can't see the superuser, here is a forum from RootzWiki with download links to what I think is the flashable su .zip file. Correct me if I am wrong

http://rootzwiki.com....3-17-June-2011

If someone could try this and say if it works or not, that would be excellent :) I may do it if I get time tonight

Awesome tip...I only rebooted mine twice...I didn't think I could do it all in one

ok sweet, flashed that SU file along with Nightly 3. GPS is fixed with no other mods or fixes installed! Camera doesn't work.

Strange… for some reason, the accelerometer rotation in Cyanogen settings is turned off for 0 degree rotation. If you guys see your phone locked in landscape, go check your settings :)

Just downloaded and flashed the latest nightly, v4. It took a few minutes to boot up but it looks good. GPS seems to be fixed and root was retained, unlike in v3. Camera does not seem to work still, and youtube does not as well. I had to flash the new zip for the CRT animation, which can be found on the RootzWiki forums, but it worked perfectly. Im not sure if the battery was improved, but im hoping for the best. Cant wait to play around with it.

Keep up the good work!
