I know that Cyanogen was against the Sensation due to the locked bootloader, but now that HTC has announced that they will no longer lock bootloaders on any future phone, will the HTC Sensation be supported from the CyanogenMod team?

Hey guys!

I'm soon going to get my first smartphone, and I opted for the HTC Sensation (Europe, so not the 4G one). I know there is still no rooting program for it, but I also know that HTC is going to unlock its bootloader sometime soon. Supposing that happens during the next one-two weeks, how long would it take to Cyanogen to get to the Sensation?

I don't expect you to have it ready and stable just after it is released in the USA, just wondering whether I should wait until the end of this year or expect to see it sometime soon during the summer.

Anyway, it will be in my hands soon enough, so I think I'll start just rooting it and playing with it until CM7 lands on it.

Thanks!

#1 rule of Cyanogen is that you do not ask for ETAs.

For now it is not sure if there will be CM for Sensation and who will do it, so we don't know when or if it will be there.
I guess someone will do it when Bootloader is unlocked. From that point it should not be long until unofficial ports will occur, but it may take some time for a final stable mod.

I acknowledge the #1 rule but the sensation NEEDS CM. The sensation with CM will blow ANY phone on the market out of the water. I was already planning on getting a sensation but if there were a CM release for this phone it would be that much better. I have an N1 and the sensation is the only phone that I believe is truly better than an N1.

I'm in the same boat. Only thing stopping me from leaving my N1 is that CM7 isn't guaranteed on the Sensation.  This in turn makes me lean towards a G2x. No comparison on the build quality (HTC wins over LG, of course) but CM's improved software speaks volumes.

Yeah see I just dont think that any phone is built as well as a HTC so I will be buying HTC as my next phone no matter what. Unless for some reason the next Nexus is introduced or strongly rumored before I buy the Sensation. I feel like CM will definitely go to the Sensation it's just a matter of time. This device can't be passed up.

I had a g2x and it sucked! Stock of course (didn't want to risk warranty issues with issues I was having) but LG ended up recalling it and tmo gave me a sensation free. I wish it was rooted but I'm happier with sensation as is... For now would not recommended g2x

I just picked this phone up the other day and love it, although I do miss a lot of my features from the old modded phone. I'm not sure if the bootloader is still locked or not, not even sure how to check. I would like to see a Cyanogenmod for it though :)

Sense 3 on my Sensation is crappy. Recent OTA update made it worse. After loading CM7 on my Desire, I'm convinced that the only thing holding back the Sensation from being a perfect phone is the lack of CM7 - I might miss the lock screen on Sense 3.0 though.

first : nice work...i saw your mod on an DHD.
The last 2 years i had IPhones...i started with an 3GS and then i had an 4G for 6 month.

I have to say, I am a proud owner of the new Senation 4G and it's by far the best phone I've had, or tried. Makes the iPhone 4 look like my original motorolla flip phone from the early 90's. Had it since it's release, and have had no probs with it in any way. Its dfaster than mu laptop! Amd yes, I'm patiently waiting a mod for this phone, but in the meantime, it does so much, so well. I highly recomend it.

I had read about that, but my intention was not putting any pressure at all or asking for a schedule, I was just wondering if it was ever going to be released (I mean if you thought of keeping the sensation out of your plans).

Right now, I do own a Sensation 3G (European version) and Sense 3.0 is ok, but full of bloat and slow. I read where the unlocked bootloader will come in a few weeks, during August. I hope that will help me remove all that crap and survive a little more until CM comes along :)

Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience and thanks very much for your support.

I put CM7 on my LG G2X and while it was way better, it still wasn't much better than my N1 so I got the Sensation. Battery is better but it needs CM7 badly....

Actually Steve lost a bet last year and since then it's allowed.
